Anyone considering shopping nationally to find the best deal? If you buy a car out of state, do you pay there sales tax or your home states sales tax when you title the car?

If you pay the out of state sales tax it might be worth a few thousand on a purchase.

Go for it. A friend of mine here in Vegas who is also a Lexus fan buys all his cars in CA and has them shipped back here (he never special orders - only buys off the lot, so he likes going to competitive, high-inventory areas like LA or SF where there are more options and he can also haggle down the price).

You pay sales tax to the dealership, but in the amount of the state/county in which you will title the car. They'll still take care of all the paperwork for you.
