IS-F Hit 190mph in 7th Gear on Dynojet
I was invited to a free dyno day this past saturday at a shop here in Houston called Advanced Racing Dynamics who primarily deal w/ domestics. Since I had never done a baseline dyno on my IS-F (it being one-month old w/ just over 2K miles), I thought this would be the best opportunity. Here are the results:
346.75 RWHP / 367.06 RWTQ
Temp 92F - 93F w/ 7% Humidity
All the domestic guys in the shop were shocked. However the most shocking news was when the shop owner who ran the dyno stated that he topped out the speedometer at 190mph while only in 7th gear. He offered to go at it again all the way up to 8th gear but I decided to save that for a later date.

Nice run but I think that your max numbers are off. Looks like a shift in there and that is affecting the readings. Looks like with the STD readings you are right around 300 on both HP and TQ. It would be interesting to see what the SAE correction for those conditions would bring it to.

Bernard, you didn't actually make 346 rwhp...like Mr Johnson said, the blip in your graph is the shift from 6th to 7th gear. If you look at your 6th gear run, it's right at 300 rwhp. Using the SAE correction factor I'd bet the number is lower as STD correction factors tend to inflate dyno numbers. That seems awfully low as I would expect 330 rwhp or so SAE. I need to dyno my car now!

I actually had 4 free dyno pulls that day. The one I posted was the last pull but the guy was just trying to hit top speed of 170 for the hell of it (ended up going way past that). I will scan the first dyno run which actually shows a proper reading from 4th gear. Keep in mind it was one hot and humid texas day.

Bernard...4th gear is not the right gear to dyno in on the IS-F. B/C it's an 8-speed transmission, you have to look for the gear that is closest to a 1:1 ratio (which on our car is 6th gear, coincidentally, exactly 1:1).

I'm going to have them do it correctly next time from 6th. So far, the four pulls the shop did were from 4th gear, 3rd gear, 5th gear and then a top speed run. Peter, where are you going to dyno your ride this weekend?

Bernard, there is a huge event at Lonestar Motorsports Park this Saturday. There will be a dyno day, drag racing and possibly a 60-130 event. I might dyno there, if not, I will dyno sometime during the week at Carboy. Come out this weekend!

Here's the graph of the first pull (from 4th gear):
337.75 RWHP / 319.03 RWTQ
Temp 91F w/ 7% Humidity
I'm waiting to see Peter's (aka houstonT) dyno pull from 6th gear (1:1 ratio) this coming weekend.

THERE YOU GO, that's more like it! The car WILL pick up power if dyno'ed in 6th gear, as 6th is 1:1
NICE JOB!
Peter
p.s. STD is an inflated CF, what did the car make SAE?

STD is not necessarily inflated. The SAE correction factors can take it down or up depending on the weather. If it was hot and humid SAE will actually make his numbers higher than STD.
