Koz wanted to test drive a IS-F.
He did and I was a passenger. We both weren't really that impressed.Yes,it's quick but getting on it produces engine sound but no muffer roar.Handles but a big negative for us was the ride is bumpy as hell.
IMO,it just wasn't worth the extra $15+K over a IS 350.$20K when you consider the no discounting of the IS-F in our area.
I almost went for a IS 350.If the dealer had a Starfire Pearll/Black...I may have bit.Got a price of $1500 over invoice for any special order.
May just wait for an '09.

I wasn't crazy about the wheel style either.I don't know...I guess we expected too much.Drive over a paper cup and you're jolted.
A loaded 350 can be bought for $41K.The IS-F just isn't worth the extra $20K,IMO.
Add in that when tested against the Benz C63 and BMW M3,the IS-F always comes in behind in Car & Driver,Motor Trend and Road & Track magazines I get.

I think we'll all agree that the IS-F is a very good first effort from Lexus. I, for one, am not surprised that it can't beat the competition from MB and BMW.
The thing that Lexus doesn't seem to understand is that, as a good first effort that isn't as good as the competition, there needs to be a reason to choose it over said competition. Getting right to the point....it needs to be cheaper. Priced at $50-55k nicely equiped, this car will sell well....but I think most agree that, apart from the novelty, it's just not a $65k good, especially with 4 door M3s and C class AMGs out there.

if a 250 owner is sayin they arent impressed, i guess it means something
dont get me wrong, im a fan of the is-f and lexus' effort to get into the performance world, but it didnt make quite as large an impact as the LS with its first release. i agree with fiveohnine, a lower price wouldve helped because it doesnt feel like a $65k+ investment. you get the luxury + performance, but i dont think theres enough kick from both worlds to make it an oustanding effort. dont get me wrong, though, i like how lexus is striving to make its name as a luxury performance vehicle.

I was a 350 owner and I'm super happy w/ my purchase. The 350 isn't even close to the ISF as it relates to speed or handling, IMHO. I personally don't care what Motor Trend or Car and Driver say.
I evaluated the options (e.g. iDrive) and purchased the ISF. Like CaThaFeR I purchased it sight unseen (I put a deposit on the car in February of 2007!)
