Journey to the 12's

Journey to the 12's
Last night I went to the Route 66 Raceway down in Joliet, IL for test & tune. After a few low 13 second runs, I finally put down a great 12 second run.
I ran a 12.83 @ 111.03 mph
My next run was a 12.9 @ 109.56 mph
I think I have reached a verdict on why i have had such a hard time getting into the 12's. Both tracks I have driven to are a good 70 miles from my house. I think my car may have had some serious heat soak. After letting my car sit for around 45 minutes to an hour, I put down my 12.83 time. i was getting some really weird times before it though. For example, i had a run with a quicker 60' time on one run. But my quarter time was almost half a second slower. Thinking my car was just too hot. Not sure what you guys have experienced. Still think with better track prep/conditions this car could get to 12.7 or a tick lower. Still have not been beaten by a street legal car yet. Lost to a dragster, a slow dragster, by .1 seconds. And that was my worst run.

Very nice. I believe houstonT (Peter B.) and J. Hennessey will both be taking their silver is-f's to the 1/4 mi track this weekend. I will try to make it out towards the end of that event. I hope one of them beat my car's 12.89 run from back in March.. and possibily match the fastest recent magazine time of 12.6

I will do my absolute best but based on the initial testing I've done on the streets, this puppy is not going to be easy to get outta the hole. First gear is short, it has tons of TQ, the tires are low profile and the rear end is not the best for drag racing. Having said all of that, maybe I can squeeze a 12.7x out of her? I dunno, we'll see and I'll do my best.

DRE, you went from slowest to fastest IS-F! Congrats! Now, I'm the slowest IS-F again. I can't wait until I can go out again. It's not a title I like to hold for very long. BTW, any weight reduction? Temperature conditions? You should forward all the info to caymandive - he's good about logging it all and he even calculates our DA for us.

60' - 2.004 still not as fast as I would like
330' - 5.518
1/8 - 8.375
mph -86.99
1000 - 10.8
1/4 - 12.83
mph - 111.03
No weight reduction, temps started around 78 and humid and dropped a little over the course of the night. Track prep was ok compared to the other track where I couldn't break 13.2. I heard having the color Silver for the IS-F adds like 40 horsepower though. At least that's what the dealer told me. Good luck guys.

Like I said before, I think most/all my bad times were coming from bad cases of heat soak. Driving 70 miles and not properly letting my car cool down before racing and sometimes in between races. When i let my car cool for about an hour, as soon as I hit second gear I knew I had a twelve second run. That's how night and day it felt.

There just may be something about the silver color. You had a 1765ft DA for your best run of 12.83, which is better than others with DA much less.

I can see this coming fall when temps get very cool some low 12's at 115+mph for the IS-F. Should be fun!

How do you find the DA in Sealy, TX on May 10th at 3 pm? How does that correlate into time? The best I could do today was 12.9@109 which STINKS in my opinion, but then again, the conditions were HOT and HUMID.
