After you have had it for a while you will get better mileage. First, you will not feel it is absolutely necessary to stick your foot in it at every opportunity. Second, the gas mileage gets better as you get more miles on it. If I drive halfway calm I can get over 22 mpg driving in Houston beltway traffic. When trying to play econo run I have gotten as high as 24.5 on a tank. Overall since new (9,000 miles) I have averaged about 20.6 mpg. At least once or twice a day I do put the petal to the metal because it is fun.

There's a mpg gauge on this car who puts on a mpg guage on a sports car!

Seriously i got 28mpg on my last trip and i drove pretty hard and i usually get around 17 in town. Once you learn that you don't need to mash the gas its gets easier, but who wants to drive like that!

I dont know how anybody in an ISF can get 27 or 28 mpg on any trip.

The best I've gotten is low 20's. I guess I need to try driving longer distances at under 2000 rpm and no flooring it.

My problem is that my car is always in sport mode and I drive it accordingly.

Seriously, I'm going to see if my dealer will install the IS350 sport/regular/snow switch in my car so I can leave it in sport mode all the time. It just doesn't feel the same in regular mode...

Sorry to ask but I have not read the manual, does the "tank" MPG indicate the average MPG since the last fill up? Does the current MPG indicate the average since last time the car was started?

If so both the "tank" and the current MPG numbers should match during that first trip after the gas station but they don't?

Any feedback, thanks.

Tank MPG is since the last time you got gas even if it was just a portion of a full tank. Current is the gas mileage you are getting at that exact instant, ie: if you are slamming the throttle, your current MPG will read 0 haha but your tank average will be an accumulated average of all your driving since the last time getting gas.

First thing I do after starting it is put it in Sport mode. Would prefer to be able to just leave it in Sport mode at all times except, of course, when I turn everything off.

WOW - something must be wrong with mine then!!!!
I'm doing about 25% Highway, yet my tank average is about 14.9.
If I push it hard, I get about 12. if I drive normally, I get about 14. If I drive like an old woman, I get about 17 or 18.

I'm getting about 12mpg right now... lol. Got 100 miles on it. I haven't really stepped on it too much, but it's mainly because I've been varying my RPMs, so it's a sporadic style of driving. I hope it goes up after break-in.

It should. Just wait after the 681 mile break-in threshold, or better yet after the 1k mark, and you'll see an improvement. It's also best to calculate your MPG the old fashioned way, instead of relying on the computer.
