I would suggest you not to use the brakes as much... lexus gave this car a 8 speed transmission so use it! (Down shift all the time) wont have this problem

Yeah ngl1145, what were you thinking man? Stop using your brakes! That should fix the problem.. (JK of course!).

hahah.. If I throw it into reverse.... it slows the car down even faster. Full reverse at 100% throttle will do it. Forget the brakes.

your manual states to use a drill to clean out the dust. hence, 'cross-drilled'.

i believe the factory service manual recommends you clean out each hole with a q-tip or the like every 5k miles for best performance. besure not to use each end of the q-tip on more than one hole, you don't want to cross contaminate the dust.

i prefer to purchase mine at costco, IMO its more cost effective when burning through so many of them.

Much ado about nothing. It is normal. Don't like the brake dust....have Lexus change pads to "dustless" type. They have a TSB for this condition on the IS350.

For all that are confused, I'm not complaining about the brake dust. I was talking about the holes getting filled up. I expect a high performance car like this to generate a decent amount of dust but I was unsure of the build up of it in the holes.

If you'd like to think the discs will be less than a grip a piece, dream on. Low volume, low sales, high tech...no way they'll be cheap. Hopefully they'll be cheaper than the $300 a piece for WRX STi rotors, but with all those pretty holes, who knows...

None of the Lexus parts listing places have ISF individual pieces yet.

Bringing an old thread back to life.

In preparation for a HPDE event next weekend at Summit Point, WV I was checking my brake pads today to see how much material I had left and noticed that my rotors were also very clogged. Not sure how much it would affect things, but I took no chance and used a drill bit and cleaned them all out. This is going to be my first HPDE event and going in with stock brakes I want to make sure they are in optimal condition. If all goes well and I end up doing more of these events I'll switch over to some Carbotech XP12's.

Clogged!

Cleaned out.

I cleaned mine out when I changed out to Hawk pads. So far, there is no sign of them filling back up.

A drill bit?? That sounds crazy. Thats what the manual states?

Would brake cleaner work?
