Default Problem finding front tires (Potenza) for IS-F

Last week I ended up getting a nail in my front tire (Bridgestone Potenza) it is very close to the edge/wall and Wheelworks recommended me to buy a new tire because the patch on the tire may not last because it is close to the edge/wall of the tire.

The problem is they are saying the tire is on a 4-week leadtime. Anyone else run into this problem of finding this tire?

Doesn't surprise me -- Lexus says that the Bridgestone was specifically designed for the ISF... The dealer probably can get them quicker... And BTW you may be able to convince the dealer to give you a break on the price of the tire since they are probably still pretty new... Talk to your SA and plead your case.. see what they say.. Can't hurt to ask.. Same thing happened to me on a CPO '04 IS300.. within an hour I left the dealership with a brand new tire..FREE of charge..

I'll call Lexus and give it a shot. I doubt they will replace the tire for free it has 4K miles on it already. Thanks for the input!

Tire rack also had the tires on backorder so it might be a nationwide thing.

Dump the Bridgestones...get the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's to replace. It's all they use at the Lexus Performance Driving Academy...and for good reason.

To replace 3 tires because of one bad one is not a good enough excuse. Plus who knows the Michelin's maybe back ordered too.

Yeah, I have to admit the Pilot Sports are great tires, my G35 Coupe came with them day 1 and when i replaced all 4 last year I went with them again. Great tire would not want anything else. I remember my IS300 had the Bridgestones, soft tire wore quickly and was not very good on the asphalt.

As far as I am concerned Lexus should only be using Pilot Sports on the IS-F . When the time comes for me to purchase the IS-F , I will be asking for the Pilot sports.

Of course it is! Then you can use the Bridgestones to use as slalom markers or for burnout testing.

My dad is buying an IS-F and is having them take the bridgestones off and putting PS2's on. It is a substantually better tire. Tirerack has the michelins in stock btw.

Really has nothing to do with Lexus or the IS-F.

Until I see track times with each, I like Bridgestone tires much better. F1 is the super testing ground for tires, so it has everything to do with it.....IMHO.
