Feels Faster In Automatic???
Has anyone had that same feeling. Ill keep at 80 in sport mode, put it into manual, put it to 4th and gun it. Then when I do the same thing in automatic, keep it in sport, gun it at 80..i feel like it gives me more of a kick when it hits. Now, i know there is a noticable diffrence in shift speeds between auto and manual (auto it takes a little more than half a sec to shift, manual it shifts instantly) but still for some reason it feels like it kicks more when its in auto..has anyone felt the same thing or am i just being crazy???

I feel the same.. when I floor it while I'm going 80 (in auto), I notice the gear all of a sudden drops to 3rd or 4th. When I try it on the manual, it seems like it takes quite a while when I'm clicking the downshift 4 times. I think auto is def. much faster.

I don't think downshifts happen that fast. I believe it was only the upshifts that took .1 sec and that's after initiating the change (which takes .2 sec).
I have never felt that auto mode was quicker than manual.

I think the downshifts can be sluggish at times. Especially if you are dropping 8 gears. I'll usually floor it in auto, then after it changes gears to 3rd or 4th or whatever, kick it over to manual to shift up as I please. I think the timing just screws with your head.

Full auto mode is very consistent so yes it may feel a little faster. ECT SPORT mode is essentially ECT PWR mode like in the regular Lexus models, but allows the torque converter to lock up in "M" Mode and allow the throttle blips to be more prominent when downshifting in "M" mode.

Also, doesn't it kick down multiple gears in Auto mode when you floor it? In manual mode you have to go through them sequentially. That may account for the difference in feeling that Auto mode is faster.

oohhh, so i guess its normal. also, it seems like it lags a little when i upshift =/ .. in auto mode, my car seems to shift at around 2500 to 3000 but i want it to shift at 2000, and it seems to still lag when i do it in manual.. iono if anybody understands my situation..hmm

If you shift at low RPM (2000) it's going to seem like a lag until the RPM's build back up again. Try running the RPM's until you hear a beep and then shift. I'm sure you will notice a difference. ;-)
