08 BMW M3 DCT vs 08 Lexus ISF

I haven't drove both but I don't like them in the IS350 I had or the IS-F I have now. I shift with the shifter, paddle shifting sux when making turns etc. More of a novelty item if you ask me.

m3 dct is an actual manual car, whereas the IS-F is really an automatic that shift really fast
if this reviews said that the DCT is actually milllion times better than their SMGII from the previous Gen, then it's safe to say that DCT should be superior to the IS-F

Lots of reasons to shift in a turn... If you are taking off from a stop and turning left would be on example. Many times I've hit the rev limit in a turn and had to use the shifter on the floor.

The DCT looks promising but there have been complaints from first batch M3 DCT owners of malfunctioning transmissions. As with anything electronically controlled and newly introduced, it has some serious issues that need to be worked out. Wait for the next year of DCT M3's or just buy it in a manual.

These aren't pervasive issues however I wouldn't risk it on a 70k dollar car.
I've driven the IS-F and the only "complaint" people have is the beeping... but if you are shifting properly you shouldn't worry about it. The down shift "triple beep" keeps you from over revving and upsetting the balance of the car. The upshift beep really only beeps at redline, and its good to have a reminder so you don't look like an **** bouncing off the rev limiter.

I've heard the DCT feels very sluggish. From a dig especially. The gearing for the dct M3 is slightly different from the 6MT. It's a little taller in first gear but the 6MT will start to pull away from it at higher speeds.
Something to think about.

everyone's definition of a "manual" car is slightly different, just because its clutch is not controlled by the driver doesn't mean it's not there

Automatic
Then I guess everyone's definition of an "automatic" must be different too...
I look at it this way, if you drive having to use both arms and both legs, then it's a manual (both arms not meaning one on steering wheel and one on cell phone, and both legs not meaning one of gas and one on brake, or out the window). If you only need one foot and one arm to drive the car, it's an "automatic"
