Paint job sux on the IS-F
#16
Yup, as everyone has said, the paint is soft, even the Lexus dealership confirmed this. They claim they apply 7 coats of paint to try to make up for it but that does not help. I literally drove the car off the lot and straight to clear bra. Not ONE chip after 7k miles.

almost any car will experience this. I think the clear bra's are definitely worth some piece of mind. It won't stop giant rocks, but it'll eliminate a lot of the chipping most cars will encounter. And as long as you take care of the rest of your paint job, it'll look fine if you ever decide to take it off/replace it, etc. Just do a search in your area for a clear bra installer, a lot of aftermarket tint shops tend to do it as well. detailers may know also know people.

I got a rock chip on driver door from stone kicked up by a lawn mower. Sure..I parked a "mile" away from all other cars at an outdoor mall, and while I was shopping some yahoo mowed the lawn near wher eI was parked..GRRRR.
But yes the paint is ultrasoft..i was suprised at how easily it could chip. I doubt there are 7 coats as it is very difficult to get the touch up paint on the spot not to be thicker in depth than stock paint around chip.
