Default IS-F posted with a trap speed of 117mph!?

Some guy (maybe on this forum) just posted a time slip on dragtimes as having run 12.5@117mph!? Looking closely at the time slip I believe he just read the slip wrong and used the numbers from the right lane instead of the left lane, but then again the 60' time for the left lane is crazy as well. Based on calculations he would have to be putting down almost 400whp to get that kind of trap speed, which is not possible for a stock IS-F.

I was looking at that, none of his times match his slip....

I am sure it was a mistake

Yeah, none of it makes sense. A 12.5.. sure that is quite possible, but the trap speed and all those mis-matches really make it unbelievable.

Like both of y'all said, it doesn't make sense, but it could be true

Looks like it is under evaluation.

Yeah dragtimes can be crap when it comes down to legit and honest postings, which is why I started my own journal.

Well apparently the track that he went to is in Epping, NH and sits at a nice 90ft elevation. I sent him a message asking for the date/time of the run so I can calculate the DA. It just may be possible that he hit a cool evening up there and the car pulled off some very impressive numbers. I'm still suspicious though since the numbers on the left side of the time slip show what most IS-F's would typically run stock. I guess we'll test the weather factors in the fall and see if any of us can get that kind of trap speed.

well, just because he didn't put in the temp and track doesn't make it crap, I think they do good job weeding out the BS.....

117 MPH is pretty high, but these guys that ran stock Z06's in 10's at 129 MPH were legit, many questioned them and have not been able to replicate it....

I don't agree that dragtimes is very good at weeding out BS initially and I think they should require a bit more definitive proof of times and scans of complete time slips at least. Video, pictures at the track, etc would all be a nice bonus. When the temps get right I'll see if this car is indeed capable of trap speeds of 117mph and higher. Seems very unlikely.

I do remember the big deal over that Corvette running 10's. He did it around the same time I ran my 12.8 in the IS350. The weather during this time was a HUGE factor.

I just did a Density Altitude check on his 117mph run. His run done on 8/20/08 / 7:35pm at the New England Dragway in Epping NH was 701ft. There have been two other IS-F's run in similar DA conditions and the best MPH was 113 done by 2JZIS-F at 676ft DA and DRE615 hit 111mph with his 943ft DA.

Where is the power coming from to give the car that extra 4mph in the trap speed? I still personally believe he is falsifying his time by using the numbers from the right side of the time slip.

Yeah -1200ft DA or 1/4 mile under ground equivalent will do amazing things to the power a car produces. Mother nature the supercharger.

I think he might be telling the truth! The 1.88 60' seems improbable and if you look at the 1/8 trap, the left was trapping at only 86 mph. If we could all do 1.8x 60', we'd trap at least 88-89 mph by the 1/8th.

The 2.0x 60' is much more probable, his 1/8 is about 2mph faster but his 1/4 is like 6-7 mph faster.

Keep in mind that there are various tracks accross the country and all the tolerances aren't exactly the same. Also, he might have had more weight reduction then we know of, plus the last few hundred feet could be slightly downhill. In addition - tailwind vs. headwind. A slight 10-15 mph tailwind gave me about 2 mph on my IS350!

PLUS, there are tolerances in engines and maybe he's really skinny! If I were to lose some weight, it'd probably be good for 1/10 and 1 mph!

I, for one, give him the benefit of the doubt and congratulate him on the fastest and quickest IS-F! Now, we have something to really shoot for!
