I have a full sized Optima in my Supra and I still need to keep a battery tender on it because I only drive it a couple of times a month. I learned the difference between driving every day and occasional use a long time ago with motorcycles - I didn't own a car for eight years and never had a battery problem with the bike, then I bought a car and had nothing but battery problems with the bike even with the expensive batteries.

BTW, voltage is chemical property of the elements used to make the battery. It's not possible to lose voltage. When current drops, you have issues, and if current drops enough, the measured voltage under load will drop too, but if you take the load off the voltage will go right back to normal.

Hi Caymandive, I followed you with your IS350 as I modded mine considerably and enjoyed it immensely and your posts helped a lot. I appreciate you getting involved with the IS-F and being creative again. Its always fun, as one poster advised, to have "Wrench Time" in the cars. I know I do. Now keep it up as I am a drag racer too and like to shave time off the car and weight is the biggest killer right now. Now for all you folks that do not see the reason for doing this, go troll another topic and complain there or go get a hug from mommy as your sarcasim is not needed here. This is ONLY for weight savings, NOT "it will strand me, it will die, its luxury, my god you people can bring down a good post, not to mention the ops creativity!!!!!!!
Keep it up fella and I look forward to future thoughts and opportunities to shave the time off.

True, I know it sounds harsh and I apologize to anyone I have offended. This was just meant to be a tread for performance when the op took the time to develop something to help the IS-F and it seemed like every other response was negative. No one is asking you to do this, unless you want to get a bit quicker. Why dog the op? That is how I was seeing it.

James what are your thoughts on the PC680 model? The web site mentions its less than 15 pounds. BTW my car is a daily driver, so I shouldn't anticipate any starting issues.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the PC680 is fine for a daily driver, but if it's a car that is garaged more than driven I would suggest hooking it up to a battery tender.

As for the negative posts in my thread. I could care less really. Can't please everyone and as long as I'm happy doing what I'm doing that's all that matters.

too bad I live in AZ and batteries live 2 yrs and die...almost no exceptions unless your car is parked in an air conditioned garage.

It's the same battery. The "T" just means it comes with automotive terminals.
This is where I got my battery and the page also shows you the various PC680 flavors. http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680series.htm

James dont forget the 6lbs you save if you have the JoeZ exhaust which it brings a grand total of 26.5 + 6 = 32.5lbs total savings.
