OMG... cry....that is so going to hurt when it comes. I'm glad i've only put on 3k in 8 months.
On a side note. Does anyones car smell when like burnt grease or hot rubber or something after you step on in in sport mode?
so I'm at Lexus right now and I complained about the brakes again. Well I need new pads on the fronts and 1 of the front pads has a crack in it. So that explains my freight train like braking sounds. I'm going to do the pads next week so hopefully the noise will stop!
Oh yeah and I have 17000 miles LOL
My friend is the head mechanic at Lexus. There is a website called www.brakewarehouse.com He said if you put thinner pads on or brake covers you run the risk of decreasing your stopping power. I just don't want to see anyone put on those pads that offer less dust because they are tired of dealing with brake dust and end o in an accident. my breaks have saved me many times from hitting a car that was inches from me. Lexus put out to the Techs to replace the pads with the thinner ones just to lessen the brake dust, but my friend said that is a dangerous thing to do and doesn't recommend it. This is not my opinion but the head mechanic at Lexus.
I also had a squeaking problem with my IS 350 around 16K and they replaced everything which made it stop squeaking. The only time I hear it now is sometimes when my brakes are wet or first thing in morning. They replaced most everything because it was corrosion that was causing my squeaking. My only advice is stick with the thick pads that the Lexus's come with.
Anyways I am sure someone knows more the my friend so chime in and tell her thinner pads are better

I do as well. I'm not really that worried about it. I just figure its the film burning off the breaks again. If the car catches fire, then I'll be worried

Speaking of rims, aren't your new ones getting put on soon? Like today?

Well The problem is - I'm stepping on it and even if i coast to slow down the brakes don't heat up. It's been 3000 miles so all the film should be gone... seems like something else like hot grease or rubber I'm not sure how to explain it.
