Took a pass on the $895 XM receiver 'plug in' for the head unit. They said it was pre wired aand I could get "any XM unit" and use it.

Has anybody done this? Does the head unit determine how the display looks or is it the plug in module? Where are these 'non Lexus' available?

I did a DYI writeup on installing an aftermarket Sirius module, there are also threads in either the IS or Electronics forums on doing XM installs; just do a search.

It cost me about 145 for the Sirius hardware and $60 for an antenna adapter to use the shark fin, but you don't need that for the XM hardware.
