Actually, I could not decide between the two when I was considering the purchase and so I got one of each and tried both for a few weeks.

The V1 tells you not only how many threats but more importantly where the threats are and which of the threats is the most important. There is no substitue for the arrows without which you are simply blind. You know the number of threats but have no idea where to look. You have no idea if the cop car you passed on the side of the road is the one causing your detector to go wild or if there is another one just around the corner or over the bend. With the V1 you know where and how many threats are around you.

There is no substitute for the V1.

I agree with you completely!

I just got my V1 re-hardwired into my F, and I couldn't regret it at all. Great radar detector for highway driving. City driving is a different story, I usually mute it, or turn it off because I'm not speeding. On a road trip this past weekend, it saved my *** from a blacked out trooper I didn't see until the last second.

Anyone thinking about buying one, gets my approval!

I'll actually snap some pics of my setup soon, and post in this thread. It's ULTRA clean. My shop did a great job in wiring it so it looks factory AND like it's part of the car.

I have the passport 8500. It has been flawless until today. I got a ticket in my Supra and the radar never went off.

I posted this on another thread, but thought I'd post here -the Escort Passport 9500ix GPS-Enabled Radar/Laser Detector is $409.99 shipped from Amazon.

Thanks for the link, that is my next purchase. I wouldn't of got a ticket if I had that radar detector. I'm done with my passport 8500.

Been using my 9500xi for a couple of days and I love it. So much quieter then my previous one and the red light and speed trap camera warnings are awesome, it points to the corner of the intersection where it is, bada**
