I thought DA already takes into consideration humidity - hence the dew point. But the 8 mph headwind probably took a mile or two off your trap. If you are able to get a day with close to -2000 DA and slight tailwind, I'm willing to bet you'll get close to 118-119 mph.

What we really need is a way to get off the starting blocks quicker. Like a 1.7 60' would be killer!

Yup DA accounts for all off that. I just threw the humidity out there because it did start to rain and we all had to leave early. I do agree the launches are killing this car. They absolutely suck!

Cayman how are midnight madnesses looking? Are a lot of people turning up? How many runs are you getting in roughly in a night?

I haven't been to MIR yet this season. I was up at Cecil County on Friday and you can get quite a bit of runs in. I got 6 runs in within 3 hours on Friday.

I haven't had much luck - out of town, track too wet, raining, no open track days, raining, too busy. I got out ONCE, and the one day I got there I waited 1 hour to do a 12.7@112 pass with a 2.0 60' - but that was a baseline run. 1/2 tank, not full weight reduction. But I didn't want to wait ANOTHER hour for 1 pass so I went home.

I'm still debating, I want too but there is only one track day scheduled for imports @ Rockingham on the 15th. I can run the 1/8th every thursday but whats the point. On the 15th it looks like I'll have my son with me and will only get to watch. If one of my good personal friend's come along (someone my 3yr old son feels comfortable with) then I'll try to run, but thats still up in the air. I'll let you guy's know.

Well, the temperature today is 60 degrees F, the barometer is 29.96 and the dewpoint is 39 degrees which isn't a spectacular DA. It'll probably drop down to like 55 degrees - BUT, I got a nice 15-20 mph tailwind today. This might be the last weekend Great Lakes Dragaway is open for the season so I'm going to give it a go tonight. I'm going to remove spare, use light battery, remove plastic covers, but not the seats. Unfortunately, my car is sitting at 1/2 tank so maybe I'll drive up there in 3rd gear to burn some of it up so I can get there with 0 miles to empty. I think it's quiet so I'm going to practice launching - see if I can break into 1.8s for 60'. We'll see...

ARGH. This car is a b**** to launch. Actual temp was 57 during my runs and dew temperature was 37 and pressure was 29.87 in Hg so DA was right around zero according to GLD's DA calculator. I did have a nice tailwind though.

No matter what, I can't seem to get under 1.95X with the drag radials. I did 20 runs or so. I tried brake torqueing, I tried mashing on the gas, I burned it out, I did no burn out, I tried left lane, right lane. No matter what I did, I can't get the car to launch out of the hole. Traction was never an issue. The engine just would bog down. One time, I think I had a perfect launch and the car was hooking up - but it almost felt like there was something smooth slipping - like as if the transmission has a protection feature to just slip at a certain torque level.

Any case, here's my best run:

60' 1.960
12.560@114.24 mph

Overall weight reduction was 100 pounds or so and I was running about 1/4 tank. So far Oztiks has the best numbers this year.

GLD said they might be open a couple more weekends weather permitting. I'll leave my drag setup on my car until they completely close.

Oh, one interesting note: When it's 32 degrees, hot lapping gave me the best results with my IS350. However, at 57 degrees, hotlapping wasn't good for the IS-F - got slower and slower. After cooling 10 minutes, I got the best runs.

I also went last night and had the worst time ever at Cecil County Dragway. The track was NOT prepped well, TONS of cleanups, running 1 lane most of the time and only managed to get 2 runs in the whole night. The first run, I ran a beautiful 14.512@67mph. The track was slick and I felt like the car was slightly fish tailing so I just let off the gas. I was amazed to see even a 14.5 with basically letting off the gas and tapping the brakes at the 1/8th. LOL

So my next and final run was better, but still didn't have a warm feeling about the track so I was not giving it 100% and ran a 12.46@115.97 with a 1.996 60'. I am certain if I had been given the opportunity to run one or two more times that I would have knocked 2 tenths off that time, but oh well.

I haven't been able to go to the 1/4 track yet, the closest one is about 120 miles away! I tried my luck though at the 1/8 local track yesterday, and as usual this track sucks! It's bad prepped, dirty, you name it! I had about 10 passes, spinning most of the time deep into second (full weight, 1/4 gas tank, and running on 20's). An 09 BMW M6 showed up and inmediately this guy's friends sent him over my way, all of them trying to see the M6 kill the poor IS-F. Since I race everyone I accepted, and proceeded to show some respect for the Lexus family not once, but 3 times!!! After each race the guy was like "let's try again", after the 3rd one he just drove away and left the track... LOL

Back to the subject, my car feels faster than last year, temperature was 78F and wind was at about 24mph coming from the side (not good at all, you could feel the wind pushing you to the right). Running on 20's I matched my best time from last year at this same track (8.40s), mind you last year I got this time running 19's on stock Bridgestone, around 62F, no spare, and about the same 1/4 gas tank. I'm sure I'll shave a few tenths mounting the stock 19's and cleaning up my air filter (or replacing it), I've never done it! I'll probably hit the 1/4 track before the end of November.

Damn none of us had great runs this past Friday. Was it the 13th or something!? LOL. I understand about the miles. The track I've gone to the past two weeks (Cecil County) is 105 miles away from me and is a PITA to get to. Took me 3 hours to get there Friday night fighting traffic the whole time. I may give that track one more try this Friday though since I plan to work at one of our off-sites "only" 50 miles from the track.
