Default 2009 national drag race. Rules/discussions.

Okay, so Caymandive won 2008. We'll have to start a new one for 2009. So, how about some rules? Should we have different classes? In light of how little is possible in terms of mods, I'm thinking of just keeping it a single competition. What do you guys think?

How about DA compensation? I'd like to open this competition to anybody, anywhere in the country and not just to those that are able to run late into the season. This way, Joe Schmoe in Denver has a chance against caymandive.

How would we compensate for DA? Simply compile all the best runs for everybody and have somebody plot a straight line for DA vs. ET and whomever is sticking way outside the line the most gets the prize?

Heck, we could have TWO winners. One would be for absolute LOWEST ET and the other winner would be for best ET outside the line.

I don't know - this is just a thought.

Any comments? Suggestions?

Drag radials vs. no drag radials? I don't think we need to worry about that since we all have the same 8 speed autos and the fact that I was quicker with RE050 vs. my MTs. (1.90 vs. 1.94)

List of people in this year:
1. ToothDoc
2. caymandive
3. JoeZ
4. Juanca
5. Oztiks
6. ???

Alright the 09' Drag comp. I'd say the only rules should be in the weight dept. I'd limit it to what can be removed without use of tools. So this would mean full interiors (seats door panels). Of course light weight wheels will be fine. Caymandives battery mod would be OK also. I like to see what the cars would do just like we drive them every day. Kinda leaves something to say about DR's?? So if you wanted to lighten the cars interior you would have to have racing seats.

I only have a 6 speed...I guess I'll have to upgrade, right.

Bump for 2009. Who's in?

BTW..Tooth or anyone else, how do we plan to compensate DA for those running N20? By running N20 they are in a sense creating their own DA with the substantially cooler intake charge of the spray.

^^^ Hmmm... what do you hide under the sleeve? If we're talking about no NO2 and no FI, then I'd take the challenge.

Im down...

I will be going light weight on the interior (seats removal should save about 100lbs) and seriously thinking about 17" or 18" slicks...

My best 60' to date is 2.09 in 90+ degree track temps and wheel spin..

You guys can disqualify me if my seats are out..

Faster & Lighter go hand in hand...

Joe, go ahead and take those seats out!!! I don't think you guys should penalize anyone who makes performance modifications to the car. FI? Nitrous? Slicks? Weight reduction? Bring it all on! That's why you do it, right?

Hey guys - let's get it on again. I don't think I'll be competitive, but it's for fun. How about 20 bucks towards winner again? No rules. Just go as fast as you can, strip it, NOS it, boost it. I figure there aren't many people with IS-Fs, let alone drag racing IS-Fs so let's open it up to anybody who wants.

I went last week on Wednesday - "Wacky Wednesday" as a baseline day for me. 1/2 tank, drag radials, no spare and tools, heavy battery and got only ONE run. 2.00 60', 12.8@112 It was SOOO long the wait. 1 hour for each run. I had been sitting around idling for almost 30 minutes. It was 55 degrees and 29.xx inches Hg and something so not the best DA. I usually like to see like 30.4 but I went for baseline but ended up just wasting time getting there. But still, 12.8 with a 2.00 is like a 12.6 with a 1.9. Which is about where I left off last year. So, engine doesn't seeem to break in anymore after 8K miles.

So, let me know who's in.

Kind of funny you mention about DRs. From end of Sept to end of Nov, I DO drive around in drag radials. It's drag racing season and they have a lot better grip on the cold pavement than the PS2s. They're also CHEAPER than PS2s and my Blizzaks. Might as well use them. Also, the TPMS doesn't kick in until after about 10-12 miles of constant driving and since my commute is only 7 miles, I don't even have the sensor going off. WooHoo!

BTW, HKS350, are you in for this year? I think you're pretty competitive (if you could hook up).

HKS350 has NOS on his IS350 and was in it last year. So of course! As long as others here don't mind. End of year, paypal winner $20 bucks.

I might, I dropped @ 300lbs of weight over the summer and I might up my shot to 100hp with some 100 octane. Last year 12.55 on 20" wheels I think I can get down to F territory with my current setup. Or maybe better
