Looking at this, in order to fix the rub issue can't you just adjust the spring seat (#5) so it seat a tad higher ?

Unfortunately I believe that only adjusts the spring tension itself. #7 is where you adjust the height.

Looks like i'm gonna have to come up at least 1/2" or maybe 1". I had a few people in the car today and bottomed out a few times over big bumps/railroad tracks.

Then you need to adjust 5 for more preload, or get stiffer springs. How much of the shock's travel is used up from putting the car on the ground vs. wheels off the ground? It should be ~1/3 of the available travel.

It should be 1/3rd when on or off the ground? Hopefully off, because it's almost impossible to see when the car is on the ground.

I'll have to try and get that figured out. Unfortunately the place I am dealing with is not familiar w/ doing aftermarket suspension installs, and I certainly am not familiar w/ them myself, so it has all been a learning process. Thanks for your advice.

Put a zip tie around the shock rod with the wheel off the ground (suspension fully extended), then put the car back on the ground (or cheat and lift the suspension with a jack until the car starts to raise off the jackstands) and either jack the car back up again, or drop the jack and allow the suspension to fully extend. Measure how high up the zip tie went on the rod. It should be ~1/3 of the full travel of the shock (length of the rod to the bump stop is pretty close). This makes sure you're at least in the ballpark for preload. If it compressed too much, tighten the collar and shorten the installed length of the spring. If it doesn't compress enough, loosen the collar to increase the installed length of the spring. When you get it where you're happy, cut the zip tie. You can also leave the zip tie in place to test the setting on the road and see if you're getting full travel or not. Your ideal setting would have you just on the bump stop when you hit the biggest bump you expect to normally encounter at speed. The zip tie will tell you if this is happening or not if you leave it on.

Or buy yourself a set of Longacre scales and corner weigh the car so you can make adjustments based on the weight the car puts on each wheel...

Great info. Thanks. I am going to search for a local shop w/ scales and see if they can do it right for a reasonable price...

PS - For what it's worth, and I have no scientific evidence what-so-ever to prove this -

Even though the car has the random rubbing issue on the front left, it still handles amazingly (when not hitting that point). There is a particular offramp I take every day on the way home.. it's about 1/4 mile long and then goes into a 90degree left turn. The light is EXTREMELY long (green) so normally I can see it when getting off the interstate, step on it, and make it to the light and slide through...

Today I performed the same thing (with new suspension), at what I *believe* to be the same speed (if not higher) as normal (with old suspensoin) and the car didn't lose its footing. Tires stayed planted, a little bit of squeal, but perfect handling.. this is quickly followed by a poorly paved/raised set of train tracks which the suspension took with ease.

Well unfortunately today I went to my original installer to get the car raised a tad, and they stated that they were going to charge me full labor costs again since it would be "like completely reinstalling the suspension" which is a pretty considerable exaggeration.
The car was already up on the lift at this point - I politely told him I did not intend on spending any more money there, had him take the car off the lift, and was on my merry way. Now I need to find a competent suspension place to do the work. Anyone have any recommendations for places in the South Florida (West Palm Beach) area?

I finally got the opportunity to drive Phil's IS-F around Saturday Afternoon for a good amount of time and I was pretty damn impressed..

I lost Javy a few times, by accident (going too fast)...

It drove better than stock in my opinion.
