Default Anybody else disappointed with LM-25s?

Just as the subject says - anybody else think the LM-25s don't have good bite in the snow? I used to run the Dunlop 3D last winter (245 sized) on my IS350 and felt the 3D tires gave me much better snow grip. I also felt that even the Pirelli snowsport 240s (255 sized) which are actually rated pretty low gave me better traction. My Odyssey minivan with Michelin Pilot Energy tires accelerated a lot better in this snow.

Hmmm....sorry you're not happy with yours. I love mine, but I also dropped down to 18's for the winter. What are you running?

hi Doc,

I'm having no problems w/ my 18" LM-25's. That said, I've never used a different snow tire, so I have no point of reference.

Finally, try driving w/ traction control off in the snow. That's a rush!

They aren't everything that I expected to tell you the truth. I was expecting more traction than I'm getting. But what I am getting is working so I can't complain too much. I haven't been stuck yet and have tackled some serious snow storms along the way. I understand what you are saying though.

I'm on 18's also, but kept the 255 as rear and 225 as front. After 1 more winter, I'm definitely going back to the 3Ds from Dunlop. I have good traction stopping and turning, just not accelerating in the slick slimy snow. You know, the packed snow with just a touch of salt so it's not quite slush.

i just put them on a few weeks ago and this is my 1st snow tire ever and I kinda agree with the doc.....
granted, I havent encountered any significant snow since I put them on but in the dry theyre all over the place!
like if im cruising and floor it i can light them up down the block with the traction control fully on! smoke and everything- wtf?

I havent had the Dunlop's but all the BMW guys swear by them. I also had the LM25 on the IS and they where a good tire. The power difference is the problem IMO. I went with these tires on the GS and like the better then the LM25 and they where slightly more expensive. I was going to try the Dunlop but if I recall I didnt seem them in my tire size and there where brand new this year and I am a hard core Michelin tire guy!
