With respect... that misses the point of his thread.
His car broke down. Lexus has a well deserved reputation for: (1) not breaking down in the first place and then (2) taking care of its customers.
There are two sides to every story but if what the OP posted is true, and why wouldn't it be, shame on Lexus of Canada.
We have owned Lexus literally since the beginning and have nothing but good things to say about the product. We have experienced some excellent dealers, some good dealers and one so so dealer but nothing bad at all.
I hope Lexus of Canada pulls it's proverbial head out and makes it right for the OP.

GL, CDNROCKIES.......try to keep your temper and give them a chance to make things right Monday morning.
If they don't, then let it (your temper) go, on your way over to the Benz dealer...
So who picked you up and took you home when you were stranded by the towing co? or did you take a taxi and will submit the bill to Lex.

Doh... hope it all gets sorted out. Keep us posted on the cause of the issue. What was the temperature outside? Not saying that it should have failed, but maybe that had something to do with it? It sounds like some bizarre electrical glitch. At least it doesn't seem like a mechanical problem.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully the dealer will rectify the situation quickly. Give em a chance first as ISFer said. Yes it's a frustrating situation, but there is always a solution. Sounds like a computer/electrical issue. Keep us udpated.

I guess that I have worked on cars too long and not relied on dealerships. My first guess would be that the relay that turns on the cooling fans (or air conditioning/heater blower fan) stuck in the closed position and didn't allow it to turn off as it should. I agree with you that electrical problems are a bitxx, especially when they happen once and then not again for the dealer.
I agree with you that the 80 km minimum is stupid. They should cover you no matter how short or long the trip. I suspect that they will rethink when you get with them on Monday.
When my wife's BMW was new she had a service engine light go on on Saturday morning, Called the dealership and the girl there told her to wait until Monday to bring it in. I said "no" and drove it there. They ended up giving her a loaner for the weekend until they could check it out.
Sometimes it is who you get that is the problem.

Sorry to hear that......but Lexus should of at least give you a ride home....that is just not right on their part. But I do agree with some other members, even the best car will break down sometime......

That suck about your ride (was it cold out), I'm going to find out about that 80km stuff cause I have the same protection.
Sure you could have jump started it, who's to say that would have worked or if it would have down more damage - driving it home after that.
It's unfortunate it happened but, Lexus is still quite reliable compared to other brands, and it has quality materials.
What's the last 4 digits of your vin, just curious.

+1.....I'm sure the selling dealer and/or Lexus Canada will be most sympathetic to the OP and will make things right for him.

I ended up having to take a cab home. Luckily the casino allowed us to hang out in the lobby until we got picked up. I don't know what we would have done if they hadn't been so kind.

It was right around 0 Celsius (32 F) and extremely windy, but that shouldn't have had much of in impact. We had a good stretch of -30 C weather and I had no problems. The car only sat for just under 2 hours so that fan motor must have been sucking a lot of power.

I was thinking the same thing as far as the electrical. Maybe a solenoid stuck open (?) or something simple like that.
Thanks to everyone else! I'll keep you posted when I find out more about the problem and the resolution.

man that sucks.
so this brings up something I've never thought about yet. Is there a 1-800 # for Lexus Roadside? I remember the dealer telling me about it when I bought the car, but didn't pay close attention since I figured I would never need it. How does it work and does it last the lifetime I own the car?
(i know i know..I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere probably... )

That sucks to hear. Very odd how the lights didn't turn off. I would assume you leave the lights on auto on/off positioning. When arming the car do you press the remote lock button twice? I do and it shuts off my lights while doing this. I am also from Alberta and I have had the F for 6+ months and no problems yet with it and I hope it stays that way. Hope you can get things resolved with Lexus and your F.

I bet you left you car on in the auxliary on postion. Reason for the lights being on and the fan being on. Where you gauges on or any of your other accessories? If yes I have a good feeling you left the car on engine off. If the fan stayed on with the lights being off then you have a definet electircal issue with a relay or fan control ECU. I would have jumped started the car because it wouldn't be worth the time waiting for the truck. Pull off the plastic cover and put the jumper cables on it just put them on the right side. If you put them on the wrong battery terminal that is when you fry stuff or pop fuses. Lexus roadside sucks up there that or they had to many things going on to help you. That I do not agree with and they should have done something to compensate you.

What I think he is saying is that if after pushing the button to turn the car off, you take your foot off the brake and push the button again it will go to auxillary mode. When you do that the headlights and heater/air conditioner blower remain on until you hit the start/stop button again.
One day when I was polishing my car I was also listening to a "Book on Disk" so I put my car in auxillary. I forgot to change my headlights from automatic to off so after several hours when I went to start it again it would not strart because the headlights were in automatic and had been on all that time running the battery down.
