what are you using? the aux input in the center console? if so, it won't work. that's just like a normal audio cable. you need a full IPOD integration like vaistech in order to have the control

i don't know how much dealer charges, but it's not too hard, i say about an hour is enough to do the install themselves. i actually installed it for my friend the other weekend, vaistech for video ipod. very neat stuff. i have the vaistech for normal ipod on my gs350 and it works very well too, love it

Where do you run the cable on the installs you've done? I know the factory-installed ipod adapter ends up in the glove box, is that where you've installed teh Vaistech ones? If so, is there an easy route from the back of the nav unit to the glove box?

i have done either way, but i kind of like the center console setup more. it's very clean and the ipod is more accessible. only need to drill a very small hole and no one could tell how i did it.

running it to the glove box, you can use the ac filter outlet probably, same story. but in case you use the viastech video ipod integration, you probably want to use the center console, since when you play video, you have to control through the ipod (only when playing mp3 you can do it through nav screen and such)

both the vaistech and the factory ipod kit has pretty long wire you can route it to either place. i will need to check again. if the 2is is similar to the 3gs, then it's pretty easy to access the glove box through the back of nav. if not, then it might be a bit more work
