Average MPH and MPG here in Japan.
Ok it has been two weeks of driving the car and around town I am getting and average MPH of 14 miles per hour and a fuel average of 11.8 miles per gallon. Just wonedering what you lucky guys in other parts of the world are getting?

I'd go nuts driving in those conditions.
If I can't average 25 mph in town and 55 on the highway , and attain about 20 mpg's, I'd use the bike.I guess it's whatever you get used to or whatever you have to work with.
Enjoy the 'F' as much as you can.....

I'm averaging 20.5 mixed city and highway driving...including a few visits to redline.

More torque at the rear wheel. Quicker acceleration. This is also why I laugh every time I see someone post "rear wheel torque" - gearing changes everything.

Did you see a marked improvement is acceleration? With the 8 speed auto I have wondered if taller gears help much. I have to imagine the you blow through first gear VERY fast. Also, were you able to get your speedo corrected?

Speedo is completely unaffected by gear changes. The VDIM looks at direct wheel speed from all four wheels and calculates speed. There is no input to vehicle speed from the transmission at all.

negative on the speed. actually it lowers top speed (but who cares about that since it's 'stratospherical' anyway)
with a lower rear gear, quickness is there in bunches. I'd hazzard a guess that it would knock off a couple tenths in the quarter anyway.
With such a tall final drive, this mod is probably a good one since highway rpms will be very livable. (something like 2k at 60 mph)
Mileage will suffer slightly - 1-2 mpg's.
I'd love to do this mod but don't want to mess with warranty tho.

Just got the car in December, and i am in the lake effect snowbelt in western NY, so i have not had much chance to "test" it as i'd like. Can't bring myself to drive my fun cars in the salt & snow..
That said, when i have had a few chances- its quick! gears 1 through 3 are a blur. Even in the drivers seat, doing the shifting, knowing it's coming- it bounces your head off the seat. Almost like getting rear ended, second hits hard..
I live about 15 miles from a drag strip (NY International Raceway Park), perhaps i can test it there this summer & report back. I have never done the strip thing, don't want to embarrass myself.. Anyone here have experience "going in drag", so to speak?

I'll be very interested to hear how the gears work out on the F. Somestime what you pick up in low end acceleration you lose due to extra tranny shifts.
When i had my S2000 gears were one of the easiest and cheapest ways to gain few .10s in a drag race. The S makes all of it's power in the top of the rev range so taller gears helped get you there faster.
