I believe someone on here was asking about which detector they use. I ran the V1 hardwired for about 3 years before purchasing the new 9500xi. Range and band (which ones they each pick up) wise, there isn't much of a difference. A few of the reasons I switched was because of the new red light and speed trap camera warnings and because the passport is insanely quiet compared to the V1

i wonder when the patent on the directional arrows on V1 expires... LOL... that's the only reason i keep the thing - between the hit detector and the arrows... it kicks butt.

That was me. I have a friend who recommended the 9500i and wanted to hear what you guys thought. The consensus seems to be that it is slightly more state of the art than the V1.

I need to pick one up ASAP. I feel naked without one on the dash in this car.

9500i isnt really sold anymore, its been replaced by the ix. They are pretty much identical except the i model doesnt have the red light / speed trap feature.

9500ix. Where you can lock out the false alarm. So when you drive on a stretch of road that you drive 365 times a year, it wont go off. It keeps me sane.

I was late to a dinner meeting tonight, going about 80 in a 55. My 9500ix proclaimed "Ka band..." I downshifted to 5th immediately, and smokie came over the hill toward me seconds later. Man, i love that thing. Wouldn't drive this car without it! It's just too easy to go too fast..

Well Cali is a total different story. First you gotta deal with the local township cops and then the CHPs. My friend got pulled over twice first by town and second by CHP this was a one block difference too. Enough about Cali. check this article out http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/05/05/...res/index.html . You get pulled over for driving 2 mphs over the speed limit and they would blackmail you into surrendering your goods.

Wow, that's bad. I haven't experienced that in 35 years of driving in California at 10-60 mph over the limit. My record is currently clean (0 points).
