Default First Oil Change

I did my first oil change today on my F, my wife's ES and the truck. I've never put 10 quarts of oil in a car before Anyway, I had trouble driving the F up on my ramps, they kept sliding forward. When I put it in snow mode, it went right up. I'm reserving judgement on the oil filter, Right now, I don't like it, I'd rather have the canister type

I have not been able to find a third party filter that fits the F. I used the stock Toyota filter. The one on the ES, is the same OD and has a similar housing, but is shorter. The one on the ES is also mounted vertically, and the housing allows you to drain it before you remove it. No Drip The filter housing on the F is mounted horizontally behind a trap door, so there is drip when removing it

when i did mine i removed the under cover! lot more work but worth not spilling it! i wonder if the ls600h's cover would fit since it has a drain plug in the filter?

Hey Lou,

I haven't had the pleasure of doing an oil change on the IS-F yet...

The cartridge cover itself is designed with tabs that allow the oil to flow down and out as long as you have lined it up in a vertical position, once the cap has been loosened passed the O-ring.

IS350 Shown from LexusTech.org

* IS-F Oil Filter Part Number = 04152-51010

* IS-F Oil Capacity with Filter = 10 Qts

Hope this helps!!

it's super simple. remove the drain plug. remove the 4 screws for the plastic cover/door. unscrew the filter cap with your hand. slide off the filter. wait for all the oil to come out. now reverse the order and add 10qts oil.

also, i just bought race ramps and the xtenders. now i can drive right up with no issues. with rhino ramps i had to throw boards in front to get up high enough. the is f doesn't need the xtenders at stock height, but i needed them for my z06 as it's lowered. race ramps are a bit pricey, but worth it imo.

Thank you for that info, for some reason i thought dealer uses Synthetic because of the 5000 miles interval oil change that dealer recommends.

No problem!!

The newer technology in these Lexus Engines allows the for the 5,000 mile intervals...
Also, just about the entire Lexus line up has this same time period with the regular oil.

Toyota/Lexus followed a 7,500 mile service interval using conventional motor oil for many years.
