Default Quad tip "squeaking"

This only occurs when the exhaust is warmed up....

went thru a drivethru today, heard this "squeaking" noise coming from the rear of the car...

sounds like total

anyway, got out and just happened to push up and down on the quad tip assembly on the driver's side...squeak squeak squeak...

I have the Joe-Z exhaust - it's not rubbing, mufflers aren't touching anything... so it's not the exhaust...

there is noticeable play in the quad tip assembly, which, when compared to the passenger side... has to be the problem.

anyone else had this issue?

note... checked it again this morning when cold, no squeaking... just when warm or hot....

I had this problem (I have the Joe Z exhaust as well). I put a piece of rubber between the muffler and the quad tip. This was happening on the left side of the exhaust. It seemed to fix the problem.

If you take this to the dealer and show them the noise, they typically will fix stuff like that under warranty. Make sure you bring it in when it is actually hot and you can prove the sound you hear yourself. I had a squeak in the rear windshield of my car and I had to go back at least 10 times to get them to hear the sound.

Hey Doug,

There are spot welded tabs that hold the inside of the tip collector together..
Inspect those to make sure they are all in place..
Also, inspect the 4 bolts that attach the collector to the bumper.

You may want to verify the topside hanger clearance when the exhaust is hot.
