Default homelink question

Hey guys i have a question about the homelink system . I was wondering if i happen to park my car outside my house. Then lets jut say if someone breaks the window will the homelink system still work to open my garage door and will be able to get into my house?

if they are smart enough to power up your car, then yes.

i leave my inside/house door in the garage locked just in case and i programmed the home button in my navigation to the local police station.

you sure? i believe on lexus the homelink will still work when it's shut off. i am not 100% about is-f, but considering that's the case on gs400, gs350, sc430, is300, and ls460l, i would be surprised if the is-f is designed differently?

Worst case scenario. Thieves break into car, your FOB is nearby, sure lets try to start the car with just 1 push of the button......it works!!!. They drive off with the car and steal your homelink code and transfer it to another hand held remote. Go back to your house, when your not home and open the garage and take everything

park ur car in the garage that will eliminate them from gaining entry to ur car and garage. the fob has to be in the car to start the ignition. never leave the fob in the car.

It seems to me, IF you could trace the wiring on your rear view mirror back to the fuse box, you could re-direct the wiring to a connection that is not always hot, but I'm not an expert in car wiring, this is just an idea, i wonder if anyone has tried this?

Usually if they've applied power with the key off it's to retain the memory. Anybody had to reset their homelink after disconnecting the battery?

If it is just a wire swap, I'm pretty sure I can post a "how-to" shortly.

not 100% on is-f, but on my other 5 lexus, disconnecting battery doesn't kill the homelink memory

So there are three wires identified in the EWD for mirror. The pink wire on pin 5 gets its power from the Dome fuse, so it is unswitched. The black wire on pin 4 is switched power. Disconnecting the pink wire from the connector and splicing it into the black wire will provide switched power for the garage door opener.

I'm not particularly keen on trying this myself. My cars are never outside my house.

Removing the mirror requires a Torx T20 and removing the cover between the mirror and the upper center console.

Disconnecting the power will likely require you recalibrate your compass as well. Instructions are in the Owner's Manual.
