Another way to look at this deal is that since you're purchasing the car for less than $50K, you'll be getting the state tax and fees you pay back from the feds.

I don't believe it's dollar for dollar savings. Depending on your tax bracket you get back only a percentage of the sales taxes paid on new vehicle purchases in 2009 under $49,500. Anything more expensive I believe there is a phase out stipulation.

To the OP...GL with your purchase!

How safe is it to get a demo IS-F? Is it okay since its a Lexus?

I have one I"m looking at:

2008 IS-F blk/blk
~8k miles
-Nav & ML
-executive demo (or so they say)
-48,000

I wouldn't buy this unless I can get it for an even trade with my S5

Dont worry about it, this car is basically bulletproof, I came from a G37 and on the forums, you constantly hear of tranny problems, engine problems, rattles, this, that, Have you noticed, theres really no common problems on this car? There really isnt a posting for " Tranny problems again, car makes clicking noise when turning, etc...." If anything, the most common complains about this car is the Not satisfying Mark Levinson system. lol I dont know if you have any problems with your S5 but from prior experiences with Audi, you probably have a few electrical issues by now with the S5. lol

It will be pretty tough for a dealer to give you 48k for your S5 as a trade in...As they are retailing for 45-50k...But GL with your purchase
