Hello folks. I have an oil change warning light even though the dealer said they'd changed the oil before I purchased (3k miles) the car. Just to be sure, I'm going to buy some Mobil 1 and have them install it. I've heard 10 qts. but don't know what the recommended weight is. What's the correct info please?

LOL, I finally did dig out the owner's manual and I didn't know it was on the oil filler cap. I bought 2 - 5qt jugs of Mobil 0w-30 (better than the 5w30 and 10w30 so says Mobil) from Walmart and then took it to the dealer to get it replaced. A full-blown Mobil 1 change at the dealer was quoted at $175 but, with the $42 paid for the oil at Walmart, the entire deal was $90. Remember to bring your own oil if you're gonna get it done at the dealer.

There is no need for any additives. Modern oils (Especially synthetic) provide all the additives your engine needs to last hundreds of thousand miles (as long as it's changed regularly). Additives are chemicals, chemicals are the first thing to break down and cause contamination. All oil manufactures formulate their oils so they use the least additives/chemicals as possible. If you look at the best oils you will find that they use the least additives.

i use the scissor jack to lift one side of the car up until the front wheel is about 2 inches off the ground, then i place the jack in the center area right before the oil pan itself and jack the car up....when the car is high enough i remove the scissor jack and place the jack stands on each side....
