My thinking is that if one knows he's going to trade in the car, then why not do it when he'll get the best return.
I'm not in a rush to trade in my car, but it sounds like a good deal, and by the responses, it is a good deal. Lets hope it goes through.
According to your buddy, you should keep the car for 20years, you will get every penny out of the car. lol Wait till you find out how much Mercedes tanks in 2 years. Just look at a used S class, they are cheaper than a used Gs year for year, miles for miles. but the S was double brand new. Way to go, giving you advice about losing alot of money on trading in but yet he suggests a car that slides downhill. lol

Oh, one more thing, wait till someone picks up that leftover IsF, then you will be like, damn, I was stupid not to pull the trigger, now I regret it. $62k Msrp car for my car and $1500, wtf was I thinking?

Sorry man but if your friend told you that AMG cars are a better deal because they depreciate less, this just shows what an idiot he is....don't listen to him!

All cars depreciate but AMG cars are notorius for the WORST RESALE value ever - a E63 AMG that new stickers for $100k sells for about $50k after one year. Lexus is one of the better brands along with Acura for resale value but in this economy everything loses $$$

amg = all money gone with resale value. type s(h) TL has held better value. the F has taken a big hit and there's still 08's left here and there you can at least take advantage of.

Thanks for everyone's help...
The dealership rejected my offer of 15k (plus my car). The dealer wouldn't budge from 18k, but to complicate matters, i was offered a 09' SLK55 AMG fully loaded for 18,500.
Its a tough decision. I'm going to go test drive both cars and see which one i like best.
Has someone driven both cars? I wonder why mercedes can offer a similar price on a higher msrp car.
Does lexus not properly judge the economy and the market?

Thanks.

Maybe SLK55 is not the hottest car on their line up...Considering it is a roadster

Funny that I had sold my SLK to get an ISF (last year)... In term of performance and gear box the F is well above. The only complain I had with the F is the comfort but I solved it by changing the suspension (JIC Magic FLT-TAR) and it's almost night and day. The F has four seats and probably get better MPG as well. And don't get me started on Lexus vs Mercedes reliability. So it should be a no brainer unless you want a convertible?

you better think twice, the slk is very nice, but its one of the worlds most impractical car. Your jumping around alot, from a Gs to a Isf and now to a slk? 2 seaters with no trunk is a big pain in the azz.

finally pulled the trigger. After negotiating with 3 dealerships, I finally agreed on a price and will be picking up my 08' ISF (silver with black interior). I must say my experience with lexus of greenwich was great.

Dealerships were giving me the they are losing money and its the lowest offer...blah blah blah, but calling me an hour later and going down only a hundred dollars at a time. Greenwich told me to come in and i was skeptical having to drive the hour to get there, but i did. I told them my number (which no one was willing to come close to), and he said sure. No fight, no work. Almost made me feel like i should have picked a lower number..ha ha.

Can't wait... pickin up the car next saturday. i apologize ahead of time for the stupid mod questions i''ll be asking. Thanks for everyone's help.

Tri County Lexus has one 08' Matador Red

Lexus of Rockville Center has one new (ultra sonic blue) and 2 exec. demos

Lexus of Masepequa (sp?) has one black exec demo

Prestige Lexus has one 08' and one 09' both exec demos i believe one black and one silver

Tri County looked willing to part with their's for 48,000. I'm sure you can knock them down a few more dollars. I had an added issue as i had a trade in and either the price was too high or the trade in was too low.
