Default Is this a good deal for a IS-F?

The car I'm looking at is:

2008 Lexus IS-F, 8000 miles, Nav & ML, black/black, and was first sold on 11//2008 so less than 1 year old. Original MSRP ~61,000. It was supposedly an executive demo.

And my trade in vehicle is:

2008 Audi S5, 12500 miles, fully loaded except auto tranny and drive select, purchased on 11/2007. Original MSRP ~58,000.

They listed the IS-F at 48,000 and appraised my trade in at 44,000. Now the negotiation stopped before we reached a final number because I told them I was not ready to go through today even if they gave me a outrageous deal. I am guessing I can get the trade in value raised 1-2k and maybe a few hundred bucks off the list price. Which means I can potentially walk out with the IS-F with only a 1500 (give or take 500) difference.

I also want to ask people how an executive demo car might be. Would it be as bad as a dealership demo? How can I find out if it wasn't a dealership demo in which I wouldn't go for the deal unless they took another 8-10 grand off.

hmm, you can get a brand new 08 IsF for around $49,000 its not unheard of. so a demo with 8000 miles should be around $44-45,000. I dont know the market value of a S5 but 44k seems very reasonable for a car that msrp for $58k dont forget an IsF msrp for around $61.5k with ML and navi. I would try to get them to do it for an even exchange tell them new 08 IsF can be had for $48-49ish depending on how agressive and desperate the Lexus dealer is. so a demo with 8000 miles should fall within your trade in's value. Really comes down to whether you want the IsF or not, Im pretty sure $1500 is not gonna bother you that much, Im pretty sure you just want a better number, thats all.

ISFLY is right, Ive seen people saying they got it $49000 out the door brand new 2008, keep looking around, as well as ask around the forums for some dealer associates, because they give really good pricing wherever you are, such as flipside or doug

Your s5 is a high demand car just like the IS-F....

sometimes it's not about money - if I was you I would only consider an even trade from the dealer acceptable. They are out to make money on you remember so any offer from them means they come out on top.

Otherwise just keep ur S5 unless you really want a sedan! I love the new s5, pure sexy lines!

Actually thats what I had in mind after seeing the 48k list price for the IS-F and the near 50k kbb value for my car. But after speaking to the dealer today I must have gotten influenced and really made me believe my car is not worth a even trade. Thanks to you guys for reminding me that it is worth an even trade.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love everything about the S5 except the performance. I have gotten so many stares (even multiple times today) and compliments but the driving feel and non sportiness of this grand touring car is really getting to me. I dream of driving something more sportier nearly every day. As much as making me want to sell everything I own to buy a used 911 or something.

cant you sell the S5 on autotrader or something? then get a new 08 F?
If you are looking to save a grand or 2 do that.
remember once you get the F its time to start modding so for right now you need to get the best deal possible. then the diference will go to an intake.exhaust combo.

I love the new S5 as well....Peformance wise its not a match to IS-F, i used to own 2004 S4 6spd...pretty much similar power wise to the S5...S4 was not even close to IS350 in 1/4mile. $1500 for a trade does not sound like a bad deal...Dealer is out there to make money
