I'm not sure why this is bad news? ![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)
This is great news! If true, this means that Lexus is buying-in on this sector, and they are gonna dump more money into making performance vehicles. So we can expect an even better IS-F in the future!

I think the GS-F needs to be 550+ hp in order to be a true halo car for the GS line that it needs to be for it to make sense. Audi already upped the ante with the 550hp RS6, and you can bet with the M5 long been 500hp and the current M3 running rings around it, the next M5 will be at least 550hp. A 550hp GS-F should keep it comfortably ahead or on par with the upcoming high performance variants of the Porsche Panamera and AM Rapide as well.
So this means the LF-A needs to be in the 600hp range, or very close to it, in order to distinguish itself from the "lesser" cars. Lexus isn't Ferrari or even Porsche yet. They can't get away with asking $250-300K for something with 400-500hp like the Euros can. It needs to make a loud enough statement otherwise it'll just be brushed aside.

This is unlikely to occur as the story in Motor Trend came out in October of 2007 before the recent economic woes. The news since this story are that the LF-A is on hold if not dead making a GS-F unlikely to occur for a while if ever.

With plummeting sales of the IS-F and talks of making the IS-F a "Special Order Only" Lexus for 2010......
Honestly, the GS-F doesn't seem to be such a good business decision right now for Lexus.
Respectively,
Joe Z

My brother told me about the GS-F and to "wait" before buying the IS-F but this will easily be a car north of $90k so it's in a totally different league of the IS-F both in terms of price and speed I'm sure. BMW and Mercedes + Caddy recently all have joined in this arena so it's only a benefit to Lexus fans to have more choices.
I love the IS-F but do admit the rear trunk and seats are a bit small....if you have some older kids this would be a welcome addition for sure!
But the GS-F has heavy competition (E63, M5, forgot the Caddy car plus the Maserati QP and new the Porsche Panorama!) so I agree it needs something special besides the 550hp+ Right now with the current market offerings for $100k super sedans I would definitely look at the Porsche as my top choice. But it's out of my budget for a sedan at this time.

i doubt it will come out anytime soon, they aren't even selling enough ISF's. you can blame it on the economy but i've seen no leftover m3's or c63's in my area. i've only seen m3 convertibles for leftovers.

how are the IS convertibles selling? only 1 of 4 were sold at ralle lexus about 1-2 weeks ago when i went there.

I have read in several places that both the LF-A and GS-F have been green-lighted for production. The LF-A will debut at the Paris Autoshow (I think I read Paris). The LF-A is reported to produce 500hp and cost up to 3 times what a GT-R goes for. I doubt that the GS-F will produce more than 500hp. I would bet the same or less. Actually I just found it, here is the article:

and the panorama turbo, their only version at 500hp, STARTS at 132k msrp before any options. honestly, that car is NOT really in the same league as e63/m5/rs6. it's something else
