Where I have had it for the last 9+ years it does NOT hit anything And, of course you need to be prudent when screwing it down

while screwed all the way down in park if you move/wiggle the shifter it bumps the chrome trim around the shifter and makes minor contact, I guess its avoidable, but it happens when all the way down.
