airbag would have to be removed and the lower and upper cover of the steering column im guessing. really should be only a few screws the clockspring and a torx bit (if they are like other steering wheels).

The OEM paddles are magnesium. Is this change just for appearance? They can't possibly be lighter than Mg.

Oh I know. Didn't mean that to sound like I was critical of his choice - those things are sweet looking...I just about shat myself when I saw the price. But hey, smoke em if you've got em!!!

No they are not. They magnesium with CF wraped around them. They are purely a mod to enhance the look and not performance and they add maybe 70grams of weight. They do look pretty good though.
