Need new set of brake pads

Pad selection does not enter the equation for stopping distance. It enters the equation for brake fade and feel, but not stopping distance. If your pad can engage ABS, you can't stop any faster. If your pad can't engage ABS, you need to take those cheese blocks out of your calipers and put in some brake pads.

the retail OEM pads are $370 at my dealership....luckly i know one of the parts manager and his cost is $240. Now I have a new dilemma. OEM pads for the price of aftermarket pads.

I plan on testing the plain HPS pads. Since Racing Brake carries them now as well, I also have access to them if you guys want a good deal.
Still looking into 2-peice rotor replacements if we can find a ring that we already make to fit the bill.

I have done a few aftermarket pads on the IS-f and most will gain in some ways but if the temp of the pad is not at a certain point it will not perform like OEM under normal driving conditions. I recommend OEM and to start washing your wheels more Lexus did put those pad on the car from the factory because they will work the best overall. I'm not trying to start any trouble just to say I do allot of brakes on Lexus cars. Some people do bring me aftermarket pads that will not have a warranty after the install but they will give you that same old story when you drive the car. You gained in a way and lost in another. That is the reality of parts. It is not often you find a part that has no down side at all.

Holes in rotors make noise. The first time I rode a bike with drilled rotors I was shocked at the noise it made under braking.

Hey guys, I keep researching for front brake pads and today I found something interesting, it's a chart for the EBC Yellowstuff front pads. They have pads for the IS-F, and their application chart reads like this:
Manufacturer: EBC Brakes
Model: Yellowstuff High Friction
Details: Disc Pads, Front,
Part Number: DP41591R
Fitment:
2008 LEXUS IS F
2009 LEXUS IS F
2008 MASERATI GRANTURISMO
2009 MASERATI GRANTURISMO
2009 MASERATI GRANTURISMO S
2005 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK55 AMG
2006 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK55 AMG
2007 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK63 AMG
2008 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK63 AMG
2005 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG
2006 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG
2007 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG
2008 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG
2009 MERCEDES-BENZ SLK55 AMG
Is this correct? Do all these cars have the same caliper design? I guess they all are Brembo calipers, right?
I know the Yellowstuff is more track oriented, but they say that it's a street/track pad with about the same brake dust as OEM pads. What do you guys think about this option? I don't really mind about brake dust, I just don't want to downgrade my braking performance.

^^. The AMG does not use Brembo brake calipers but that does not mean they are not designed to accept Brembo pads.
In my past experience EBC pads have been disappointing.
Personally I will stay with the stock pads at they stop well and handle heat fairly well. Brake dust is a low price to pay for a well performing pad that is quiet.

Actually, they're still on the shelf. I have 50% left on my pads after 23,000 miles. I have a fundamental belief about brakes - they're for the timid - so I usually get a lot more life out of my brakes than most.
ATM, I have track pads in the car from a weekend at CMP with Carolinas PCA. I'm debating on putting the Bobcats in this time. I have to change them today though.
