If its @ the bottom dot, then they only put 9 quarts in. I’m guessing it said low oil when your car was stopped somewhere where the surface wasn’t at a flat level like a slanted driveway.

Yes it was at the bottom dot, maybe even slightly below. Also, you are correct about the slope. I won't be having the dealership do my oil changes to say the least. Only reason they did it the last time was it was part of the certification prior to my purchase.

Yes, make sure the car is level when checking the oil level or you'll not get an accurate reading. When filling at the gas station is the best time unless you park in a garage.
As Lobux and JoeZ explained, heavy driving of any kind will cause higher oil consumption so expecting it would be prudent.

If you're concerned about excessive consumption, make a habit of checking regularly to chart the loss.

Yes, I plan to check more frequently. Wouldn't it be better to check in the morning in the garage so the oil has time to settle? I would think at the gas station after running the car, alot of oil would still be in the heads...

I'm overly concerned with oil ever since I had my 01 z06. The 01's have an oil consumption problem which ultimately led to me spinning a rod bearing and having to fork out for a whole new bottom end

I've done both, in the morning and at the gas station and yes there's a little diff., not a lot tho: about an eighth of an inch on the stick. Hot oil will drain back down fairly quickly so it's not much of a concern.
I suggested the station if you've no other choice. Level is the important.

I check mine cold. If its a little low in operation because some of the oil is in the head, I'm not too worried about it. I'm a lot more concerned about it being too high and having the crank froth it into mousse. IME a little low makes more power from less windage.

You didn't buy an M3...you should not be burning oil like this.

LOL.

I don't think it was burning oil excessively, but rather the dealership not putting in enough oil when they did the last oil change. I'll be sure it gets done right the next time around.
