the top of the mount clamps onto the stem of the oem rear-view mirror.

the bottom of the mount screws into the visor mount where the suction cups would usually go.

where did you get the mount for v1 and mirror?
I emailed Mike at MIKE3348@roadrunner.com for my mount. It's solid aluminum and tremendously well built - couldn't be happier with it!

I found some mounts on www.countryjoycrafts.com for Escort and Valentine radar detectors. I don't know if they will work if you are staying with the old mirror (prior to TSB)? I just looked and there looks like there is some type of plastic ring over the stem currently. I was wondering if that stem gets removed to mount the hardware? If anyone has any info please help out? Anyone know what size stem we have also? I currently am using an Escort 9500ix with Stealthcord and suction cup mounts. I hate that the suction cups come undone every so often.

Are you sure about that website you have listed I dont think that I will find radar mounts mixed in with the country doilies

Yep... just picked up a blendmount for $32 shipped...

My suction cup mounts were super annoying!!
