Floor Mat Recall for 250/350?
#5
I had first hand experience with this exact problem scenario.
I was given a 250 loaner with all-weather mats while a wheel was being replaced on my F. I was driving in a busy part of Chicago's Southwest side, and when I mushed the pedal to quickly get around someone that stopped in the middle of traffic to make a left, it never came back. Thankfully this was a 250. Full brakes and a quick push of the Start/Stop button quickly reminded me that the vehicle must be going 0 MPH in order to kill the engine. Up to Neutral I went and rolled off to the side while the governed engine raced and screamed.
If you're driving the beast, always make sure your mats are secure.

Lexus does not want any floor mats on the drivers side. that includes the all weather floor mat, carpet floor mat, custom clear mat, etc etc and also to remove all pins!

The IS-F is affected also. All IS lines are affected from 06-current. Also the ES350 07-current. Remove drivers floor mat (even the carpeted one) and clips and place in trunk for the time being.

As of right now, Lexus does not have any other information. They will be releasing updated information shortly and I will keep you guys posted. They may be redesigning the floor mats and anchoring clips. They will also most likely be sending out letters to all of the previous mentioned vehicle owners.

We are all unsure whats making it defective as of now... We are simply advising all of our guests that come in for service to remove any aftermarket universal floor mat covers and OEM for now. Alot of guests out there have universal covers that clearly dont fit. Untill Lexus has an update, i have no answers. I will definately keep you guys posted once i get word. Please be patient guys and thanks for understanding!
