Default $5 Noise Maker vs Borla Competition Exhaust

A few months ago I ordered a Borla Competition exhaust. Only to discover it was on backorder for a while.

Thought I'd do a little noisemaker mod just to hold me off. I removed the donut at the connection to the mufflers. Got some longer bolts and 1" spacers. Repositioned the connection so the exhaust flows downward. (sorry no pics). Sounded pretty damn good. Can't say I lost or gained anything. My 1/8 Mile 85 MPH trap hadn't changed, however pre-mod it was done with 1/4 tank of gas. Post-mod it was over 1/2 tank.

Anyway, The Borla finally came in last week. Sounds a little quieter but uncorking the cats has improved the powerband.

Here's the comparison vid I did of the sound both make. (Rattle noise is from the lift - not exhaust)

The $600 difference in price made me go with the Borla instead of the JoeZ. I have plans to put that difference toward a set of DMH cutouts.

n0th1ng, if you have the one that came with the X-pipe, we're the same.

Cool! Thanks for the $5 noise maker idea! I'd been wanting to tinker and get an idea of what the muffler delete would sound like, but wasn't sure how to do that without completely unbolting the flange and leaving it hang. I'll definitely give this a quick try.

Basically, it's a well tuned exhaust leak.
