Arrow Brits take the IS-F to 173MPH in Germany!

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evol...lexus_isf.html

"155mph comes and goes. Bye-bye BMW, au revoir Audi, it’s a shame you’re not here to witness your defeat. The Lexus plunges on. I can feel the forces building up, the air pushing the car into the road, the ride getting very firm but stability unwavering. As 168mph flashes up on my faithful Garmin Edge GPS there’s a beep from the IS-F, and I momentarily wonder if it’s telling me it’s all done. Nope. It’s just the rev-counter telling me it’s time for seventh. I pull the right-hand paddle and off we go again."

Awesome!

Good review, I think the engine is limited to 168 or so, speedo may be off a few. Wonder what this thing would do without a limiter!?

He said the speedometer was reading over 180, the Garmin GPS was reading out the actual maximum, 173.2 mph.

That's the speed of a Ferrari Daytona.

If a bug hits your windshield at 174mph, is there anything even left for the wipers to take care of?

as strange as it is, there is no different if the bug hits you at 120kmh or 280kmh

still, the same amount of "meat" left

though, the rain water is runing up the windshield as it was impregnated with that special liquid that repels water..

The IS-F engine is a monster. Period. If its can reach 170+ from factory...im sure the the IS-F can pull with more then enough road 180+ easy

Great article.
Loved the comment about gasoline usage: "Used better part of half a tank in 45 miles....".

I'd love to feel the Lex at that speed. Would be quite a thrill.

Strange he needed 7th for top speed. Now I'm wondering if the Euro-spec F is geared differently. US spec cars will easily hit the top speed limiter in 6th at about 6500 rpm.
