Reposting since bottom of the last page = FTL.

I'm at 30% left at 23k miles. What's the service charge at the stealership for pad
replacement?

Anyone hear of Brake Performance? They make slotted, cross drilled & slotted, dimple & slotted, and plain rotors for the IS-F.

I don't know the company but if the price is right it might be worth it to try. They claim they will match prices so I suppose you might get a price match to the Raybestos at $106. Certainly much better than what Lexus charges.

One thing to ask/consider is if there holes are drilled or cast into the rotors.

It makes no difference. They still stress crack.

oh my god,i drive like a granny and never ever been to the track. street use only, and do mainly city driving and i just looked at the front pads, and the wear tab is like half of what it is in the rears. i only have freaking 5,400 miles. wth is this b.s piece of crap. how could my pads wear so quickly?

what are you guys using for pads? strickly street use, with no squeal and alot less brake dust? i dont give a crap if they dont perform like stock pads, cause they are just ridiculous.

I am currently building a TWO piece rotor for our cars. PCI or PROCAR INNOVATIONs is a leader for parts that are for track or heavy duty use. I will have update for everyone..

That's how. If you drove 50/50 in the city/highway, you'd probably get more normal wear. You're driving a 3,800 lb sedan around, it takes quite a bit to stop it... and it isn't like it was set up to get great brake wear.

yea but 5,500 miles with like 10% pad left? this isnt a damn supercar. Its meant to be driven. And to change pads at 8,000 miles is just unacceptable.

I usually replace my pads when they are at about 2mm. If your fronts look half worn, you probably have 5-6 mm left, still plenty left. Your fronts will wear out much faster than the rears due to the heavy v8 upfront. You should start hearing a little grinding noise once you have worn down to the metal tab on the pads. Until then, just enjoy the car.

It's your driving style and how you drive. Do you ride your brakes or a late braker? Your city driving is the culprit for low pad life.
