so what is everyone here planning or do with thier brakes? i heard some bad stories on lexusf.com, about someone having to change his pads and rotors out at 8,500 miles! WTF?
theres no way im changing mine out at every 8,500 miles. And the prices for the stock pads and rotors is CRAZY!
what does everyone prefer>? i heard some get fredero,hawk. anyone who actually are living with some aftermarket ones that loves them? i am ****ting my pants right now at the thought of these stupid *** brakes. they brake awesome but this is just stupid at how often they need to be changed and how dirty and pricey they are.

I already addressed this on LexusF with pics etc. I am at 18K miles and about half way through. You should be fine daily driving.
Aftermarket solutions should be had for $500 and these are a piece of cake to change yourself.

have 50.000 km on ODO and have already changed twice brake pads and rotors with second part of pads, because they already started cracking...it is for front brakes only.
I see no problem in this, cause they DO work, and realy force them work a lot and this speed of wearing them self on hard conditions from my experience is completely normal..
P.S. they are realy not that expensive...of course civic Type-r used to be twice cheaper, though EVO VIII price was around the same...maybe it is just like in EU

I'm at 23k miles on my 09 IS F. I am no where near the end of the lifespan of my oem brake pads and rotors.

Throw some HP+ and you will be buying pads and rotors every 5k.. But you stop on anything.... brakes arent that bad in price. If you just drive it like a granny you will get some miles on them. BUT WHO DOES THAT IN A F..

Changed my fronts out at 5500 miles. That was street miles and 1 track day (only 2 sessions). Original pads are 10mm thick. After 2 sessions at the track, stock pads got too hot and melted/transferred/deposited heavily on inner/outer rotor. Also pads became "glazed" and were useless even though there was 4mm left. Front rotors had to have buildup/transfer/deposit removed with scuff pad (circular pad attached to air driven dremel). Put in new pads and everything back to normal. Anyone saying you need new rotors is b.s unless they are heavily grooved and cracked (cracks running from hole to hole). Your rotors will not wear heavily enough unless you are braking extremely hard at the track with a "track" pad. OEM pads will simply heat up too much and leave tons of deposit on the rotors. Bought my front pads from Sewell for little under $300. Also did not have to swap the rears, still substantial pad left (8/9mm).

My rotors seem to be wearing less after my track weekend with Carbotech XP-12s. Yeah, I've got little cracks, but nothing remotely approaching inspection limits (hole to inside or outside edge or hole to hole). It seems to me they got a whole lot harder from getting really hot, but they're still working fine for street duty with the OEM pads. I've also noticed they dust a LOT less since my track weekend. But they really did get very hot.
