insurance / track use
Hi all,
Just an FYI- i was recently speaking with my insurance agency manager, and he told me:
"Hey, just so you know- your policy provides full coverage, even when you are running your car at the track Watkin's Glen"..
I was honestly stunned, i thought it was "common knowledge" that your insurance "shut off" the moment you hit the track. He told me that Liberty Mutual is one of two companies in the country that honor their policies even with track driving. I don't recall the other, he told me "Chub" or something like that..
Just thought some of you may like to know, not pushing Liberty Mutual, but i am glad to know, for sure!! Oh, he also let me know that they were one of few companies that authorize OEM parts for repairs without a fight.
Good to know that not every company is out to screw you over..

No, this couldn't be more wrong. Most companies do NOT cover track days or any event on a "racing surface" regardless if they're driving training or not. Read your policy to be sure.

Chub has a seperate insurance package for track use available. They have a min premium of $1,000 for 10 events/yr w/ a $1,000 deductible. I was quoted $1,000 premium for 10 events/yr w/ a $1,000 deductible on a vehicle w/ an estimated value of $33,000

Would that also cover race events? (not just high performance driving school)

^ believe it won't, don't you sign a waiver before going onto the track?

I called GEICO a while back and posted on it. They will cover any damage on the track as long as there was no stunting, demolition, or actual racing. We are good.
You guys should be with GEICO just for the price let alone the superior coverage
