I was just looking at the rear wheel well, noticed it seems to collect dust/dirt etc, then realized it's actually a cloth-like surface, as opposed to the plastic liner of the front wheel well. Is everyone else noticing the same thing?

Yeah in the rear wheel well one part is plastic, the other is that cloth material. Don't ask me why? I'm sure there's a valid explanation. Maybe due to the heat from back there with the exhaust?

Thx for checking, which part is plastic in the rear? On mine, it's all that cloth, from what I can tell.

Everyone has carpet back there, its to keep the noise down for all the rocks the cars low profile tires pick up, if it was plastic u would constantly hear all the little pebbles cling clanging back there!

Based on extensive research I can testify it is carpet-ish, not plastic.

Not to say I'm doubting you but if that the case, why no cloth-carpet on the fronts?

Because the front wheels are not below the cabin it is for noise reduction not sure about the rock thing but for road noise yes and the front wheels don't need any noise reduction.

No, not at all. Yes the vents are back there, no the cloth has nothing to do with ventilation and everything to do with:

Yea that was interesting. I only realized it when I first took my wheels off. The carpet felt pretty nice actually.. ha ha

I appreciate all these details that go into the car.

Yes the felt material is also on my previous 07 GS350 and other Lexus models. BMW uses this same type of wheelhouse liner in their vehicles as well.
