How much does a sunroof weigh?

I have seen a no-charge sunroof delete option. In my previous IS300, I only used the sunroof maybe 3-4 times in 7 years (my wife used it more), so basically it is an option I don't need. I figured it could save weight and possibly improve (slightly) center of gravity? Anyone know?

As I recall the IS300 sunroof was around 50lbs. The F's could be heavier. Should I make a sunroof delete out of carbon?? I need a show of hands on who would tackle this install if I made it. I had an 01 IS300 with no sunroof, it was pretty rare.

i don't have a real figure, but 50 lbs sounds a bit optimistic. the rails are aluminum and most parts are plastic except the motor, wind deflector and glass moon roof. i think carbon fiber would be nice, but probably not cost effective. the glass itself does not weigh very much. aluminum would be the most cost effective option.

Here are two threads about removing the sunroof, estimated weights....I guess it weighs about 50 pounds.
An IS300 diy swap saved 40 (est) pounds:

Another reference that it may weigh 60 pounds (IS300):

Plus, you get just a bit more head room, which you can benefit from as well...

Isn't there extra weight aside from the glass itself? The motor, the rails, the wind deflector that pops up, etc. that you can take out? I'm sure there's also extra structural support that's normally taken out if you convert to a solid roof, but if you can't you probably want to keep those in.

When I was a Scion owner, one of the tC members removed the sunroof and weighed the glass, motor, and rails. It weighed 68 lbs. I'd bet removing all the junk would net ~60 lbs. I would only do that to a race car. The tilt function on the sunroof is fantastic for removing biological odors quickly, and I wouldn't want to give that up. I surely would like just a little more headroom though. My helmet touches the headliner when I'm at the track even with the seat leaned back pretty far.
