Toms tower strut brace
#3
do you really feel a difference? cause i had tower braces on my other cars and i cant tell no difference. the only suspension piece i actually felt a difference was springs/shocks/ or sway bars or x braces. never did i fell any diff. on front upper strut brace.
how much does that piece run anyways?

No time for testing right now, but i am sure it will prevent body roll in hard coners. On my SC430 it made a big difference.
X-Braces are also a good thing to slow chassis aging. Stock suspension of the F is quite perfect - it is the stiffest of all LEXUS models. Mostly all nippon aftermarket IS-F sus systems are to soft - you gain comfort but lose percision. The KW V3 is one of the best here available.

well i will tell you a strut bar is not going to change body roll. Spring rate will do that. But with a super crazy spring rate i would highly suggest this tie bar. I am in the process of building one that is adjustable and alot more price friendly.

Brace looks nice but frankly it really does not go well with that stock color engine cover!
Silver on silver is not too eye pleasing unless of course you are doing this strictly for performance. May I ask how much? I bet it's not cheap either....

From a purely technical standpoint "needing" a strut brace is subjective. It is to prevent body flex. I would think on an IS F you would have to subject the car to extremely high G loads (Drifting/Track racing) in order to cause it to flex as it is a very stiff car to begin with. Preventing the body flex is to ensure your suspension component to road relationship is the same.
If your driving your car normally you will not feel a difference.
You would have to drive your car beyond its flex limits before you can feel the stiffness of the strut brace.
If you drive a flexible chassis (i.e. convertible) then you would feel the difference and would be needed.
Having said all that it does look visually impressive so people get it just for that reason alone.

Also requires the side covers be removed. You would probably notice it most when going over speed bumps and entering angled drives...this is the only time I notice chassis flex.
I think I am going to look at making a roof brace. I can hear flex in the roof when I enter my angled driveway. The response with coilovers and sticky tires is already flick-friendly

There is enough space between cover and strut, also between strut and hood. No worries !
TOMs has also included spacers. So you decide how low / high the strut will be mounted.
Maybe interesting: my modifiyed K&N with BLITZ SUS AIR INTAKE CONE...

Does anybody know what the brace are called in the picture with 6 small metal braces in tread #20 ? The pieces go at the bottom rear of the car and are support braces.
