I sold a mint condition s2000 for my (ex)gf. She didn't like it because she couldn't recline in the seat and it wasn't practical. I was thinking in a year I would marry her and we needed a 4 door (my other car is a coupe). She was into practicality and luxury so I ended up getting the ISF. When she found out I got the ISF, she thought it was too much money and said a regular IS was good enough. I think she was worried I wouldn't have money left to buy her an engagement ring (she didn't know I already bought one and was waiting for the right time). I wanted to get the best to make her happy and also to make myself happy. The ISF has been a great choice. We're not together anymore, but I don't regret the decisions I made. The car still has her footprints on the inside of the front windshield where she rested her feet. I think I'll leave it there as they remind me of good times. :~(

i too have the temptation to sell my F for my soon to be fiance. we were ring shopping this week (one of those regular rings, not the left ring finger--or so she thinks). anyways, we come across this gorgeous ring at tiffany's and her face just melts. we're walking around town checking out other jeweler sites, and i asked how she would feel if I sold the F. she knew that i saw her expression when she saw that ring, and she immediately said, "No. I know you love her (my F), and I dont wanna be the reason you sell it." That definitely makes me want to get her that ring, and I've been eyeing it every time I walk by for the past few weeks.
Sure, it doesnt make sense to sell your ride for a girl, but its another situation if you want to in order to make your girl the happiest girl/ bride to be ever. great cars are replaceable. great women who can appreciate those great cars- now thats priceless. sorry if that sounded like a mastercard commercial...

Man I keep thinking of dumping my 07 GS350 and getting a CPO ISF. They are not common inAZ though. Its not the kind of car that they carry at every dealerships used car lot

for a CPO IS F, make sure there is no structural body damage. carfax won't report it if it was taken care of. also, search the VIN online to see some history on the car. there have been many instances where an F was crashed, picked apart, and auctioned off. just be wary of any CPO. some dealers might be selling you a Piece Of Crap (POC) as opposed to Certified Pre Owned (CPO), thinking they got their letters mixed up or something.

My soon to be ex wife wanted it, and I rather sell it than let her get it.

I, too, once sold the love of my life (1968 Corvette convertible 427/435hp) to settle down with a girl. Both events still bother me from time to time.
