Somebody T boned my F
Somebody T boned my F on my passenger side. The whole side of the car needs to be redone(I will post pics soon). I haven't got got an estimate yet, I am sure it can be fixed. Do you think I am being to fussy when I say I don't want the car after the hit? I only have 5500 miles on it. I am just as **** about the car as everyone else is with theirs. Is my only option to get it fixed and sell it? Does anybody know how long it takes for carfax to pick up the wreck? I appreciate any help that you guys can provide.. Thanks Andrew...

I wouldn't want it back either but, since it's not a total loss, there's nuttin' you can do except sell it if you don't like it anymore. From my understanding, CARFAX is networked in with all insurance companies and most repair stations so it's pretty much real time.

Have you gotten an estimate from the insurance yet? Did any airbags go off? It might be totaled, hard to say from not seeing any pics. I imagine its the person that hit you at fault so their insurance will be trying to screw you so be careful

even though it was still in an accident and will probably soon be repaired completely, i wouldnt want it as well. something about having body work re-worked thats NOT original from the plant just doesnt fly with me. the exception to this would be if you were to continue to use a car as a daily driver. i myself use my F as a weekend ride and for car shows and such, and if it were ever to be in any sort of accident, im not sure if i would keep it still. i understand what you mean. you're not fussy for thinking so, but it all depends how you use your ride. best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear about that Depending on how bad it is it might not be that big a deal... I wouldn't rush to plan on getting rid of it until you get it back. Basically, give it a fair chance. Where you're describing the damage isn't full of critical components that could have hidden, lingering issues.
Years ago we kept a car for 6-7 years after it was T-boned pretty hard (~30-35mph impact) and repaired. (It eventually burned to ashes due to an electrical fire, unrelated to the old accident as far as I know)

Dont jump to conclusion yet,, you never know, it may be totalled due to frame damage, especially if it got t-boned hard,, if your pillars are pushed all the way in then theres a high chance, but if your T-boned only consist of bad doors then obviously it wont get totalled but at the same time, putting new doors on your car is not that bad when compared to bent door post or A pillars..

Depending on your insurance carrier you may be elligible for "new car replacement"; also.. some companies have a very good track record of not wanting to deal with lawsuits later. If you come back to them with "I don't feel the car is safe" (which is what I would do in that situation) and other (legitimate) complaints, you might succeed. Good luck.

You may have new replacement insurance coverage for 2 or 3 yrs. Check it out.
Diminished value should be an option too.
It may not have sustained any very serious damage. You'll have to see the estimate and go from there.

If you claim it against the other party (which is the case here), it's irrelevant what they have in their policy, since you didn't sign anything with them.
There's some excellent advice here: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Auto-Insu...ue-claim-2.htm

just take it to the best body shop you can find, otherwise it'll never drive the same. Was there frame damage?
Any work reported through insurance or a dealer is reported to carfax and autocheck. Honestly, in your situation, you're better to keep it.
