Default 1st 1000 miles. I've got some questions?

I put the first 1,000 miles on my USB/Alpine IS F and I'm really enjoying the car. I get complimented on the color combo everywhere I go.

When I had BMW's, at 1,000-1,500 miles, I would change the Oil and Tranny fluid.

Should I do the same thing on my F?

Any other suggestions?

I wouldn't mess with the gearbox oil. Ever. WS fluid is crazy expensive, and the gearbox is not designed for nor intended to have regular fluid changes of any kind.

If you're itching to get under the car and make a mess, focus on the engine oil (although it's not that big a deal according to the UOAs I've done) and the differential oil (but this too could easily wait for some time to come.)

Lobux is right. Trans fluid in the ISF is Toyota WS Lifetime ATF. WS - World standard.

As for engine oil, you can choose to stay with 5w30 conventional oil or you can switch to synthetics as many of us have. The ISF uses nearly 10 quarts of oil...so synthetic maybe an expensive investment for some.

stick with what the factory wants. the chances of something going wrong is far less than taking the risks of claimed benefits of others trying to sell you something.

you changed the engine oil every 1,000 miles (for most people that's monthly)? why?

i still have a beater corrolla AND civic that barely gets biannual oil changes and is well over 100,000 miles.

i think after the first 1k mile change, it should be relegated to 3500-5000 mile intervals. that way its cleaned out, flushed, and maintain its high performance. changing it too often is unnecessary, for the most part, if its primarily a daily driver or a weekend ride. if its being used for tracking or even trips/ vacationing, then id change the oil around 2500-3500. its just all preference.

Extended Performance is a waste. The regular stuff will go 10 - 12k without issue according to my UOAs, and it has more lubricant with less additive.

You mean regular Mobil 1 or regular dino-oil? I agree that the extended perf Mobil 1 is little, if any, improvement over the regular Mobil 1. I use the 0w30 in my F.

Yeah, regular Mobil 1 from Wally World at $22 for five quarts. The Extended Performance version is totally unnecessary and not as good a lubricant as the regular Mobil 1.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I don't change the oil every 1000K, I've just put the first 1000 miles on the car and was wondering about the fluid break-in procedure. Thanks for all the advice.

Plenty of good knowledge has already been said here.
Enjoy the ride. I'm in Maryland near Annapolis in my Matador Red Mica. Hope to see you cruising around.

After 15k I did a regular drain/refill on my trans., diff. and running 0w30 german castrol. 0w30 is a good choice during the winter and 5w30 for the summer, however, I think these weights might be a bit too thin for our massive 2URGSE. A 0w40 might be a good choice.
There is only one WS ATF and it is a "lifetime" fluid.
