Get the M3! i like having a car not many have! thats why i dont have a Z06! everyone has a vette and lots of Z06. the vette is a better choice when u only have one other person and u said its ur girl!

While there have been some software related issues with the DCT I don't think it is the time bomb you seem to be implying. I agree that I wouldn't want to own a M out of warranty, but I would feel that way no matter which transmission I had. My DCT has been pretty good so far, and it feels more responsive than the F's 8 speed auto when I'm working the paddles.

Firstly, that black isf in the picture above was my old 2008. And that car saw many track days and kicked many m3 butts. The cars are close enough that it comesdown to driver. Now, if you bring the 2010 into the mix, I believe the LSD will close that track gap even more. M has a nice ext, but crap int compared to the F. I faced the same problem you are going through, and have decided to buy a new 2010 instead of the M3.
Lexus ownership is a better experience in my eyes.

I have to agree that the interior of the IS-F is a nicer place to be. I miss the cool looking dials and Lexus quality switch gear. My mom just got an IS350C and I drove it this past Saturday out to the Dallas car show with my dad. While the driving characteristics didn't overwhelm me, the interior did bring back some memories. With that said the M3 has great seats, a great steering wheel and the iDrive (2009 and later) ain't all that bad.

I completely agree that the cars are very close with drivers of equal skill. What i have noticed about the M3 is it allows a driver of lesser skills to push the car further because of the excellent composure and feedback. While the F may have similar ultimate performance I didn't feel it was as easy to drive fast.

Keep this in perspective. I was chasing down m3, and passing them. Then there was this guy in a Cobalt SS Sedan, that was kicking my ***! It is not the car, it is driver. And yes, M3 will get up that learning curve faster, but just practise and sharpen your skills, and the F WILL be the total package.
Power, Luxury, Quality, Reliable, Fuel Effiecent and Track worthy (LSD) all at a reasonable price! It is a no brainer in my eyes, that is why I came back when I could have gone very easily with the M3 or C63.
