Folks:
Sorry to post so many threads in different sections but here it goes:
Im seriously considering purchasing a Lexus IS model. Wanted to get you folks opinion on the IS-F. I was talking to the sells rep on the maintenance of the vehicle and got dealer prices of what a 30k and 60k price are. Would like to hear more on actual IS-F owners of their ball park figures of what I would need to look out for. For example brakes, I was on another forum researching the vehicle and it seems like the brakes was a topic of conversation about how soon and how pricey it cost to do a brake job. Considering how many miles I drive a year (22-25k) brake job would kill me.
The IS350 would be more inline and practical, but If I can swing on the maintenance of an IS-F, than I would do this all the way.
Your opinions are very much appreciated. Im really on the fence and would like to hear actually owners of the IS-F.
Thank You,
Rain

I have both and used to like my wife's IS350, when I had an RX350. Now I don't even want to drive her car. Two different cars. One is very nice, one is awesome. Haven't had any maintance issues with either one. Good luck in making a choice.

I agree with MicaIsF,, if little stuff like brake and tires and oil change is gonna bother you from buying a $60k car, then guess what??? you are not ready to be a true baller.. I have an F and the most I complain about is the $5000-6000 for a set of aftermarket 20s,, not the $3.00 a gallon for premium gas or the $300 a tire pricetag.

WTH ~ why do these threads pop up every week?
my 2 cents: If you even "thinking" about an IS350 and worried about $$$ to buy an IS-F, obviously you are not ready to own the IS-F.
Same philosophy goes for Ferrari owners - if you even have to ask about maintenance or want to negotiate that last $1K to save some money you are not qualified to be an F-car owner. It's harsh but true....

If costs are a concern you should also get an insurance quote on both models. I just bought an IS350-C and I got an insurance bill that made me feel like a teen driver again. Getting a quote on an F might make the decision for you.

Thanks for the inputs folks. I went out and checked an IS-F tonight. Just beautiful.
-The oil changes and tire cost doesn't worry me, nor does the price tag of using Premium Gas. Im used to $100+ oil changes and $300+ tires cost (owned a modified BMW in the past), I currently own an Infiniti that the STBXW will soon own.
-Its the brake jobs that I hear run in the thousands every 10-12k miles. And since I rack the miles up real quick then that becomes a concern of mine.
I appreciate the opinions folks.....when it boils down to it, the commitment of maintaining this vehicle might very well be the deciding factor since it will not be a garage queen.

Bro, if you rack up your miles fast,,, then Im guessing your commute is a pretty far one on a daily basis? If you do alot of highway miles, your brake pads are not gonna wear down every 10-12k!! I have close to 8000miles on my car and I can tell you I have at least a good 75%-85% life left on them.. Ask around,,, most normal drivers that dont track their F and dont do stoplight races,, tend to have an average of 25k+ life on their front pad.

Oh,, and since you owned a "modified" bmw before,, Im assuming you are kinda handy on your own car? if you are a diy person then they have Hawk or Ferodo Pads for the F at about $200 and rotors are approx $125 each for Raybestos.. The F takes 10 quarts of regular oil which runs around $2 a quart plus another $10-$15 for a filter.. thats less than $40!!! And my F averages 25mpg on the highway with a semi-heavy foot.

What insurance company are you using?? Im 33 and live in Philly,, Im paying $590 every 6 months for my IsF with $500 deductible for comp and collision. Your insurance can't be that high now??? oh, btw,, Im using Nationwide insurance, so its not like its a no-name brand.. Let me know if you need the telephone number of my insurance agent.. Maybe its time to switch out.. I was quoted nearly double for the same car using Allstate...
